Kermit Cintron calls out Shane Mosley

With few options available for Shane Mosely, Kermit Cintron believes now is the perfect time for the two to mix it up.

Cintron (31-2-1, 27 KOs) said as much in an attempt to call out Mosley (46-5, 39 KOs).

I feel like right now it makes sense,” said Cintron, who scored a unanimous decision victory over Alfredo Anguno in May. “With Cotto fighting Pacquiao and Mayweather fighting Marquez, I don’t see why he wouldn’t take a fight with me.”

With Antonio Margarito, who Mosley took care of with a 9th-round knockout last January, stripped of his license, Cintron could be an option for Mosley.

“It would be a great fight between us. A tough fight between great fighters,” said Cintron. “It’s a big risk, I understand that. But it’s the one fight out there that is easily available for both of us.”

      Cintron's promoter, Lou DiBella, concurred.

“Kermit is willing to fight anywhere from 147 to 154 pounds," DiBella said. "I don’t think we would have to spend significant time negotiating to make a fight between these two great warriors.”

Although some would argue fighing Cintron would be a step back for Mosley, it could be his only option. Speculation is rampant that the winners of Pacquiao-Cotto and Mayweather-Marquez would fight each other.

If that is indeed the case, Mosley would have to wait anywhere from 12 to 15 months for his turn. He could take on the loser of either fight, but its unlikely the loser would want to take a fighter of Mosley's caliber so quickly.

Mosley does not want to fight Williams, Berto, or Clottey.

Plus the best p4p is fighting a guy who has a win over Mosley.
don't make up pure BS lol manny was tryin to get cotto down to 142/140 and cotto was stayin firm at 145,as soon as pacman realised tht shane mosley was happy to fight at 140 plus take only 30% of the purse they changed there mind about fighting cotto at 145 very quickly

I don't think Shane wanted Mayweather back then, not sure why. He may have had reservations himself. Again, dunno why. But I do think that Mosley is the guaranteed cure for Mayweather. He's the right size, has an iron chin, enough handspeed and ringsmarts that he is guaranteed to land on Mayweather, and the power to get the job done. And to be honest, I think Mayweather may be a tad chinny.

Even if all the right conditions permitted, Mayweather would never sign a deal with Shane. His Zero means too much to him to risk it. He'll fight Pacman if he gets a chance, and win a decision after a boring fight, but won't ever risk a Mosley fight.

            Andre Berto is waiting
WBC welterweight boxing champion Andre Berto is waiting for a new partner to dance with. On Friday, while presenting a check to his local boys and girls club in Winter Haven, Berto said he thought he had a deal with Shane Mosley but said Mosley backed out of it.

There are options for Berto, however.

He could have a rematch with Luis Collazo. He could fight the winner of the IBF title fight between Delvin Rodriguez and Isaac Hlatshwayo. Or Mosley could enter back into the picture.

Either way, Berto said he would like to fight in November or December. Stay tuned!

                Clottey fights Shane Mosley November
Joshua Clottey, former WBA Welterweight champion has announced that his next opponent is American 'Sugar' Shane Mosley, the current WBA Welterweight Super Champion, in November.

According to Clottey, all is set for the November showdown.

“I have started serious training and promise to become a world champion again,” he said in plain words at the offices of the Minister of Youth and Sports, Hon Abdul Rashid Pelpuo, yesterday.

Clottey mounts the ring against the Pomona - California boxer, after bowing to Miguel Cotto in America, a few months ago

Also he said that Cotto would be a step backward.

When Cotto has a win over him. Im guessing is because he thinks Cotto is going to beat him.

The question should be is Mosley being ducked? or Is he ducking every fighter?

that the perfect fight for both right now, clottey was very unlucky against cotto and margirito, so Mosley would gain alot fighting him

i think Mayweather should move down a weight, he's a natural light welter imo and could make that weight easy, he simple refused to fight quality welters naturally bigger than him

Mosley is rejecting a lot of fights with other fighters as well. I don't know where people are getting this idea that Manny ducked Mosley from. As soon as Cotto beat Clottey it was pretty much determined that Pacquiao and Cotto were going to fight, and it was only then Mosley started getting desperate to fight Manny. Mosley was trying to make a fight with a guy that already had a fight being made.
