If you were asked to come spar with Margarito....

If you were asked to come spar with Margarito....

If you were asked to come spar with Margarito and he was
already laced up, would you demand to check his wraps?
Or would be foolish enough to trust him?

    Considering the Rashad Holloway incident

Holloway Reflects on Fateful Margarito Sparring Session

Holloway's career was put in jeopardy during a December 19 sparring session with Margarito in Montebello, California. Both were preparing for fights; Holloway's was the following week while Margarito was gearing up to tango with Sugar Shane a month later. What started out as his final day of sparring nearly became his last day of boxing.

"To be honest, it happened so quick that I don't even know what happened," Holloway, 9-1 (5 KO), tells BoxingScene.com. "I remember he threw a wild right hand and I slipped it and he switched over to a southpaw stance and threw a left uppercut. And it landed.

"When it first happened, I didn't know what hit me. I've been hit 50 million times in my career, but I'd never been hit with a shot that hurt like that. It felt like a hard object hit me in the face. I thought he hit me with the palm of his hand. It wasn't like a normal punch. It didn't feel like a padded glove hit me. It was like a solid, hard impact.

"It felt like I had been hit with a bag of rocks."

Holloway suddenly called a halt to the session. The right side of his face went numb, his vision became impaired, he feared the worst. Hoping it was just a minor issue, Holloway waited two days before visiting the hospital. When he finally went to the emergency room, they confirmed that he had fractured the orbital bone on the right side of his face.

It wasn't until Holloway visited a specialist that he realized how serious the situation was.

"They told me that there was a possibility that I wouldn't be able to fight again. They said there was a possibility that it could heal wrong and that they'd have to re-break my face and put a metal plate in my face."

I would just train with him. I would get my ass whooped though. He is too big for me and has a style that I have problems with.

No one else complains about training with Margarito. That guy was just milking the wraps scandal. Sergio Mora also trained with Margarito, do you hear him crying or saying **** about being hit by rocks?

No proof here whatsoever of plaster, just a sparring partner that got hit very badly.

I call bull**** on that one. First off, what benefit would Marg have in loading his gloves for a sparring match? Makes absolutely no sense whatsoever.

You spar to get rounds in, not to knock people out quickly, that doesn't help you prep for the fight.

I think he was embarassed because Marg caught him with a good shot and busted his ****.

****, just last week in my gym and 145lb fighter sparring with a 200lb fighter knocked himout with one solid right hand when the bigger guy was coming in. He was so embarassed and his ego was so bruised but I told him it happens to the best of them. He just got caught perfectly.

Sergio always complained about sparring with Margarito. Sergio claimed that when ever he sparred with Margarito, he knew Tony was slow as the day is long and yet he was still getting hit and it was hurting. He could not figure out how or why this cat was landing when he was just so damn slow. I would love to see some new sparring footage of Mora and Margarito now, I bet you anything Sergio will be demanding that they show him the wraps. I would not be afraid nor ashamed to ask. You are a sucker of you would let that boy (Margarina) lay a glove on you with out being 100% sure if he was packing plaster or not.

Did you notice that against Mosley, Margarinas punches were soft? I wonder why that was?
