... to Ross Puritty and Corrie Sanders, affect the respect you have for him?

Maybe the Saunders fight a little bit. When he lost to Purrity he was really young. His corner stopped the fight because they did'nt want Wlad to take a bad beating and get damaged at such a young age. It's a good thing because look at what he has been able to do since.

                Yes, it does matter.

Corrie Sander didn't just KO Wlad. He outclassed him, took his heart and beat him up. This wasn't a freak KO, ala Lewis and Rahman. This was a devastating lesson from, in my eyes, a superior fighter.

He got stopped by 3 bums and never fought any of them again (but his big brother did) = a bit less respect.

Lewis got KO'd badly twice and dished out beatdowns to both of them in the rematches - that's what a real champion should do.

He never really got the chance to rematch Sanders. Sanders went into the Vitali fight in terrible shape and got beat up. After that he never dedicated himself to the sport again.
