I box but I'm not like aspiring to be a world beater or anything and I'm curious to know who else on this forum boxes ,either seriously or not.
I'm similar too. I've been boxing since I was about 5 years old but have no desire to do it professionally though. I have alot respect for any who box for a living.

Good call! Any pro boxer I have the utmost respect for, except for John Ruiz.

I have done a bit of boxing. However, now I am doing grappling. train 3 to 4 times a week for 3 hours a time most nights. Lately, because I just started a new job, I have been training less which is too bad. I love it.

We were sitting at a little party at a buddy of mine's apartment near LSU one day when one of his roommates (massive juicemonkey) everyone seemed to be afraid of stood up, drunk, and put on a pair of gloves. "Who wants to box? **** all you *******. etc." I took this as disrespect, where I come from there were no guys like this. Plus, he didn't know me at all, and just called the room my friend and I were in a room full of *******.

He was absolutely huge , very little fat on this guy, totally ripped, 260 lbs easy. He powerlifted for Gayle Hatch, and claimed to bench 550, and over the head bench 375ish. one of those guys you were just positive did tons of steroids, over ten-twenty cycles, no doubt. Which was perfect for me, because I've always despised cheaters. He was 26 years old, and I remember this guy sitting next to me started as a pitcher for LSU tigers baseball, and he punked out hardcore and was like 'i aint boxin you brantley'. I only know that Brantley was in the army, and was very skinny before going in,and his friends told me about his steroidal habits. Oh yeah and he idolized Tyson.

I was 19 at the time, and really didn't know much about boxing, except for that I had a decent jab, which I developed at home, since I was 15 I've beat on the heavy bag any time I wanted a stress release. I was there with a friend from high school that loved music, and only liked to watch boxing. I was dabbling in drugs at the time, and had taken seven valiums about two hours before this. I've fought on v's before, and always thought they gave me an edge. (i was a very ****** kid.)However, I had never boxed on them. I stood up and looked Brantley in the eye, and said "I'll box you." the room was suddenly quiet. then everyone jumped up, in a weird fashion.

So we go outside. I barely know these people, and they are all shouting for brantley to beat me down. the grass is slightly wet, and it's raining a little. No vaseline, no headgear, just me, a 225 lb lanky flabby kid in front of this hulking beast that had the body of Evander Holyfield, easy. I wouldn'tve done this had I been older, for the risks of doing this without proper headgear etc are very high, imagine being paralyzed because of some dumb bull**** like this.

He comes at me like Hagler came at Hearns, I'm talking full power hooks at the very beginning of the fight. I dodge the first two and land a jab and a right hand, then he catches me with this brutal right hook and my feet slipped because of the wet grass.

I was up in a split second. I wasn't the slightest bit dazed, at all. I remember his friends all going "OOOOHH KNOCK THAT MOTHER****ER OUT!" and etcetra, and I remember seeing Blaine, my friend that came with me, watching the fight quietly, as I got up. I paw with the jab instictually, but Brantley comes out again with the hooks and catches me again, and again my feet slip and I fall back to the wet earth under the moonlight. I was not at all dazed, and these are the hardest shots I've ever taken, it was ****ing weird. It was like my head was a concrete pillar, and I was born for the sport. My eye was all puffy and black and **** but I swear to god I felt no loss of balance or anything like that, both KD's I jumped back up like a fighter who slipped.

So his friends are all like 'He's had enough ok we're through' and I hadn't even really been down, both KD's were slips but of course caused by massive punches, the wet grass was the factor though-if we were in a ring with shoes and canvas I bet anything I would've weathered that no problem, since I wasn't the least bit dazed.

Brantley was very tired at this point, and we weren't even fighting that long. I knew he would be ****ed if I could weather this for a minute longer, and then I saw his buzzsaw of hooks coming and ducked under, BOOM BOOM let off two hooks to the body and he dropped his hands, BLAM let off a weak straight right hand and knocked him down, and his foot hung in the air when he landed. His friends were quiet as **** and didn't say a single word except GET UP BT! (his last name was taylor) here I was, a 19 yo kid, who just dropped their boy, supposedly the toughest mother****er on this campus. Of course his friends said it was a slip, "cmon bt get that ****er he didnt knock you down it was just a slip" but I caused it with a combination and then a decent right hand, so lol at those tards.

He gets up quickly though, and comes back at me...doesnt move his head at all, just comes right in and throws hook after hook squared up, no stance! "You wont punk me in front of my friends" mentality! Here I am backing up jabbing trying to get my feet to adhere on this wet grass getting my ass handed to me by this guy. He was a killer, no body shots just a head hunter..BAM smacked me with a left hook, I duck the right hook instictually and I'm backing up trying to let this ape get tired, landing occassional jabs when he starts breathing hard...then asks me to hold on, says 'stop fighting' he went to take off his gloves and I came up top with a really weak left hook and was coming in with a right hook when Blaine came and bear hugged me to where I was immobilized from punching anymore at least

I became the legend that showed up BT. Everyone around that college knew who I was, it was as if I was the doctor who cured cancer. People had a different type of respect for me, and I liked it. I loved it. I wanted more of it.

After this night I knew I had the tools to become a champion, especially after seeing John Ruiz become champion, I just knew I could have my own page in the sweet science.

I started boxing in a gym at age 21, I'm 22 now, with 2 amateur fights under my belt. Won the first fight with a TKO in round 1, the second fight I won because the guy quit on me after the first round. I felt cheated and conceded at the same time, it was the weirdest feeling ever, but my two trainers were happy.."tonight we go home early, kid" was Norm's exact words..

edited: damn this post is massive, lol what is this like a 1 megabyte post. lol.

SWEET STORY! I boxed when i was a young spud in da army and still spar at the local ring in little italy. I too once had to fight a monster in college and . I was comin back from this frat party (my bud was a delta sig) any way me and this chick hooked up and she was signing me in, it was like 1:00am, this monster **** was behind me was drunk as hell and just started pushin me from behind mummbling "hurry up lil *****". The girl I was w/said leave it alone and I was cause I wanted to screw her bad. But the halfbreed **** kept hittin me and sayin **** like "you lil ***** you a man or a *****" and then nailed me in the cheek. I was suprised because one, he hit me, and two for his size he realy could hit hard or was just that wasted. I didnt box him though I ended it it quick. I jamed my thumb in his eye as hard as I could and as he bent down in pain I headbutted him right on the temple. I was so ***in hyped "you know all the andrenaline" that I just took off running and forgot the chick. Later the police got ahold of me (I had already signed my name) and asked me to write down my account of it. I said basically I defended myself and plus from the video they couldnt realy see what happened cause all these dudes were surrounding us. Any way the cop told me he was a local goon that has been prosecuted in the past for assualts. He asked me "hey did you poke him in the eye" I said no and the cop looked at me and said ok you can go. Two weeks later a friend of mine that new a chick that screws that goon told him that he lost his eye. I always felt bad about that kid gettin ***ed up like thatI didnt mean for that to happen. However, I have used that thumbing many times since then. Man it stops a fight quick!

Laughed my ass off at that phrase, but yeah, it sucks he lost his vision. But a guy like that really deserves it, he had it coming to him. Especially a **** to push you like that from behind, he was probably abused as a kid.

Think of it like this buddy- IMO you did him a favor, picture him in a bar somewhere doing that in a parking lot to someone with a gun, and he would be dead...you spared him, in a sense.

edited :Btw you said he was a half breed, what kind of breed was he? im just curious

I was a good to great athlete in most sports and I would have loved to have boxed in my youth. How old are you BTW? Cita lives out near your neck of the woods I believe.
