Proves that it's all about money for Haye: the most money for the easiest fight gets his signature! Valuev is a punchless bore, i.e perfect for Haye.

Really, the most money for the easiest fight? Like 99% of other boxers, you mean? He can worry about 'legacy' in a few years time.

The money is always important, but if the proposed terms with Vitali were much teh same as they were with Wlad, I can fully understand his comments and his way out - cannily offered by Don King, as usual - is indeed pretty smart.

Vitali has just been outmanoevred by Haye and King. Tough ****, the K's shouldn't have been such bitches regarding the contract terms. They don't need Haye this year, there are plenty of other options and as has been said this is a pretty good result all round if Vitali ends up fighting say Arreola or Chambers (I see Arreola as stepping directly in to the package offered Haye, with slightly less BS terms attached). Haye v. K2 WILL happen next year if he beats Valuev, with Haye getting a rather more generous slice of the pie, particularly if he can KO the big guy.

This is a better move from Haye... a much better business move anyway.

Coming up to heavyweight as a virtual nobody in the division he was forced to sign a contract with unreasonable stipulations and cut in money.

The best thing to do is get another belt yourself, this way you come to the table with some bargaining power of your own.

If the Klitschkos will be the biggest fights in the HW division for Haye, and the biggest money for Haye, it would be beneficial to come to the table with some bargaining power, and he will have that being one of the HW champions himself.

He will make much more money this way, and will not have to sign some ridiculous 3 fight agreement... because Haye will actually have something the Klits want..

This is accurate business talk right here. Haye probably was down to
fight the Klitschko's for the glory but realized it is more of a business
and threw a curve ball at them. Nothing wrong with making the best
decisions for yourself.

Haye is becoming notorious for hyperbole, lies, and false statements. He seems not to be able to control his mouth at all. The deal, even the way he describes it, with Klitschko, was a boxers dream, with 3 fights guaranteed against the biggest crowd draws in the world as far as heavyweights are concerned. He's have made a fortune, lots more than he'd have needed to retire on.

His behaviour is highly erratic, indicating that he's a huge handful to deal with. Perhaps his experience with Don King will teach him a few things, as has happened to better men than he.
