We all wanted him to fight the Klits but lets look at the facts and be reasonable here:

    1st scheduled fight against Wlad:
Haye is only given U.K revenue, Setanta-the channel that was gonna braodcast the fight is about to go bust, meaning Haye would have fought Wlad for free..which no Boxer is ever gonna do.

    Fight against Vitali:
Firstly its the klit gang who've been saying its a done deal all this time, not really heard much from Haye.
Secondly if the Klits have options on him for two further fights that would mean the following:

    current Date july 23rd 2009
    Fight Date: October 22nd 2009??
(most top heavys seem to fight every 9 months)
    2nd Fight: approx july 22nd 2010
    3rd Fight: approx april 22nd 2011

This would mean he would tie himself up for two years on **** pay terms just so he can have a shot at the klits, not only that after those two years even if he beats them both he then has to go on and prob fight the other big guys out there to solidify his legacy.

On the other hand we could be logical and realise that the klits need Haye nearly as much as he needs them, haye realises this. And so if he fights valuev and gets the title and then beats whoever is the top contender after the Klits, haye will become proven and all of a sudden the tables will turn on the Klits. People will realise the Klits need to offer haye better terms and HAVE to make a fight with him.

This way he'll have better terms and make alot more money.

The truth is that haye really did and does want to fight the klits but first setanta went bust and now he's realised that there's a better way of going about this.

In all reality alot of the blame lies with the Klits, its not like they're exactly trying to coax Haye into fighting them, they're giving him **** terms and putting him off on purpose.

That's a very probable theory. It only makes sense that if he earns more respect as a Heavyweight that he would get more respect at the negotiating table as well.

All of this just hit me as a surprise, I never would have guess that he'd go for bigfoot instead of the Klits. I can't wait for this fight though, I really want to see how Valuev deals with someone like Haye.

Wlad and Vitali always said they wanted him to prove himself, well here you go, he's fighting the next big title holder there is. It will also make the brothers have to chase him rather than him chase them.
He's not getting a fight with either bro in the future. Those bridges are burned. This was a move made out of fear. He is fighting a guy who the ancient Holy beat, and is doing so for less money.

Ok people that don't see the motives why, need to remember rule 101 of boxing. IT IS A BUSINESS! As much as we all love it as a sport, it's a business first and foremost.
Think of it this way Kilt fans. If you want something and there are two ways of going about it, one is with more obligations, time consuming, less money and the second with more money, more benefits and on a more level playing field then which would you choose. The Haye v Klitschko fight will happen, done the line, this just validates more and gives it more hype. On Haye's part this could quite just be a stroke of brilliance. It depends on your perception...

In Britain this will be a huge fight, amongst casual boxing fans and sports fans in general.

The dude he is fighting is 7'0 and 300 pounds, that will capture huge interest. The Klitschko's are the best, but they won't captivate wider interest like a hairy sasquatch with boxing gloves. Wlad has done his bit to be a world champ in its wider context of being a personality, Vitali unfortunetely doesn't have a personality so he's stumped. Valuev, for reasons discussed doesn't need a personality.

This is possibly a bigger fight in Britain than a contest against the Klits, our press will hype this **** up something chronic. There will probably be some kind of protest march to prevent such a size/weight mismatch happening, then Haye should and probably will give the big man an almight whomping, and look like St George slaying the dragon. Hello, sports personality of the year, hello adoration from the British public, and hello financial security for the rest of Dave's life, regardless of whether, as is likely both Klits smash him.

Can't blame Dave for this,he would have been a mug for turning it down.

Says who? This is boxing, no 'bridges are burned'. It was a move made to make money. If there's money in the fights, they will happen; the only consequence of this is that Haye will get a bigger slice of it.

It'd be fine if he hadn't mouthed off so much. I won't call him scared of Wlad, but I think Haye fears VK.
