i still think it's feasible to promote /manage yourself, or in the very least, manage yourself. If I can pass math 101 and fight in the amateur ranks simultaneously stress free then why not go pro and manage myself?
Why don't more fighters manage and promote themselves?

I've been thinking about you and this thread. I have come to the conclusion that you do not need a manager. The last thing in the world you need is someone on the payroll encouraging you to get punched in the head. Go get yourself a job mopping the floor at the local peepshow and hold on to the few marbles you have upstairs.Comment

I don't know about Jones, but Oscar made all his money by being promoted by Arum. If Oscar had promoted himself it would be doubtful that he would be as popular as he is.Comment

Slip,
There is a lot more to promotion than meets the eye. Your view of promotors is pretty much the equivalent to how the average boxing outsider sees the sport: two savage fools bashing each other until one falls. Just like in boxing there is a level of skill and experienced needed, and just like in boxing some people are more talented at it than others.Comment
