As long as a fighter gives their best effort and feel they have nothing left to offer. Although from teh mental said of the sport being firced into yielding can be a very bad omen for things to come (atleast against tough high end competition).

I have no personal issue with any fighter quitting, I have no real desire to see someone go out on on a streacher just because, but in looking beyond the situation quitting can be very damaging to a fighters mindset in future fight.

Cotto is a warrior. He took that beating for 5 rounds (6-11). No one else would take a beating like that. Put anyone in that danger and they would have either quit or been knocked out. Cotto took knees cause he needed to if he wanted to try and win. and **** he almost pulled it out. Look at Gatti Ward Larry. Those were serious beatings they both took and so was the Barrera Morales fights. Those 4 are true warriors. Those warriors are Blood, Guts and Glory!
Agreed.. Cotto took a far worse beating with plaster than DLH, Ortiz, Guerrero, Julio Diaz, etc. He is a warrior.

There is no way DLH is gonna recover from the beating he got and it risks his brain being pounded, so his quitting is legit for me. Cotto, his face is mangled and is gassing so no shame in that. Now Ortiz is just straight up quit, WTF 4 rounds? Fighters, refs, corner, fans, we're all human. Brain damage or death is part of boxing. This decade has been good so far, and i'd rather see quitters than dead boxers.

I wouldn't mind dying in ring like a warrior.

cotto ****in quit!!! he's a quitter.

a boxer should never quit, but his corner should know when to throw in the towel.

I generally find that the only people moaning about Cotto quitting are those who have never stepped into the ring. You'll never hear boxers ****ting on Cotto for it. It's not a joke, people do die in the ring and I have no problem with someone making the decision to "quit" so they can watch their kids grow up.

getting hit is part of the job description. his corner needs to save him, he shouldn't quit.
