Reach makes more difference than height in boxing, and I'm not talking about the wingspan listed on Boxrec, I'm talking about arm length, measured from the armpit to the end of the fist. Wlad's isn't very long (26 in) for his height, hell it's the same as Mayweather's.
I'm sorry but I could care less that, for example, Pavlik had a 1 1/2" arm length advantage (and 1" height) over Hopkins. I didn't hear Hopkins or his team (or anyone for that matter) gloating about how Hopkins overcame a 1 1/2" reach disadvantage. It didn't matter. It didn't matter when Wlad beat Austin. The point is that reach is just part of the equation. Without skills it means nothing.

A couple inches in height generally doesn't make much of a difference either. However, I do think there comes a point where it does start to make more of a difference. 5" inch height advantage over Chagaev along with a reach advantage and having a bigger frame was without a doubt an advantage. Yes, I know he doesn't always fight guys this small but I was trying to make a point is that he never acknowledges Wlad's advantages and instead matches guys like Ali and Lewis up against some of the smallest guys he can find to make a cheap point when someone can easily do the same with Wlad.

    EDIT:
Another point that I should make is that with height it's an automatic that it's harder to punch up as an opponent. It's an automatic that as a taller fighter than you will be able to get better leverage punching down. Reach on the other hand has to be utilized more as a skill to become an advantage. It requires great punching ability, particularly with the jab. If you throw telegraphed punches, for instance, it will be easy for your opponent to slip and counter.

Hopefully this isn't true yet. I really want to see a Cunningham rematch. The first fight was a classic. That would have to be a decent money fight that I'm sure Versus or Shotime would pick up. As far as money goes for Adamek at Cruiserweight, whats up with a fight with Krzysztof Wlodarczyk? He's from Poland and its apparent theres a strong Polish following in Newark New Jersey. Why don't they try and make that fight. I'd like to see those two fights before he moves up to Heavyweight. I'd love to see him and Golotta go at it.

And while i'm excited to see it and am a huge Adamek fan i suspect his Heavyweight run will end up similar to Jirov's. I think Jirov was the better fighter but he was waaay more past it than Adamek is now.

He has a very good chin but i think some heavies could crack it. His right hand will still do damage.
Wladimir is listed at 6'6½ which seems accurate but he himself says that he is 6'5.

I think Jirov's HW run went wrong because he gained a lot of weight which made him less effective. He fought at 188 against Toney, 212 against Mesi and didn't look bad although he lost the decision (he also gave Mesi a career-ending beating) and then was upset by Moorer in a fight he was easily winning at that point. He was 30 lbs heavier than in his cruiserweight days.

GBP owns all the dates... I'm sorry to hear Adamek can't get dates, but maybe he should've made that Hopkins' fight.

Why would anyone move into a division with the Klitschkos?

I would like to see a Cunningham-Adamek rematch, but I don't think Adamek is terrified of him. He probably views it as a fight he could lose though.. But the first fight was an example of a close encounter that was won clearly by the guy who landed the more effective punches in Adamek.

And where is this gonna leave Hopkins? I don't know if anybody has brought his situation up in this thread, but if he can't get Adamek early next year his only two other options are the Dawson-Johnson winner or maybe Paul Williams if he would be willing to move up in weight. He would be looking at retirement if he didn't land a fight with one of those guys.

Look at the money their opponents are making. Sam Peter made millions.
