Any word on Steward as Cotto's trainer?

I know there was rumors around the community that Cotto was looking into Emanuel Steward to head his training camp. Now that the Pacquiao fight is official, does anybody know if they've made any more moves regarding this?

To me, it'd be a great move for Miguel, I think their styles would mesh pretty well and Steward's style of training looks like it'd closely match Miguel's.

Am I the only one who thinks the upside of Steward isn't that great? I mean I honestly believe Nacho would be greatly more suited for Cotto. I'm not saying that Steward wouldn't help and improve Cotto but that Cotto would improve more under Nacho.

Steward's fighters are usually the faster guys who keep the fight on the outside with their jab. While Cotto has a good jab I think he as the slower handed fighter will need his jab to get in not to keep Pac outside.

But Nacho has a losing streak against Pacquiao, including other coaches who eats Tacos (Floyd Sr. 24/7). Pac is a Mexicutioner, so I doubt if they take him in, especially if JMM loses to PBF.

The latest news was that Cotto would consider taking Emanuel Steward on his team but not as lead Trainer.

Ill try to find the article.

No word yet but I hope he doesnt train Cotto.

Steward is too quick ont he draw when it comes to judgement calls. he also never has anything really good to say about Cotto recently.

I wish nasim richardson trained Cotto. That dude comes into fight night with the best gameplans and trains his fighters like animals. but can you imagine the dialogue? hahaha

Stewerd's fighters can't fight inside worth a damn.

Cotto should avoid him like the plague.

Pac is a vastly superior talented fighter to JMM and have every talent advantage possible but Nacho was able to train him and game plan well enough so that in 2 fights Pac-JMM are only separated by 1rd.

I don't judge trainers on there W-L but on what they get out of their fighter's talent. I think its safe to say that Nacho has done the most with his fighters talents.

Ever since Cotto decided not to fight Vivian Harris...Steward has been dissing him consistently.

Thats why I found it so strange that he would offer his services as trainer.

I guess Cotto won him over with his gutsy performance against Clottey...

or maybe more realistically Steward knew that Cotto vs Pac was next and wanted to get his name all over this high profile fight.

He knows what the 24/7 series has done for Freddi roach.
