The uppercut WILL NOT be a factor in Cotto/Pac.

Its either gonna be throw two ways from a distance or up close

    1. The reason I say from a distance is because I feel in order for Pac to be effective he will have to keep the fight at a distance with good footwork and in and out punches. If its from a distance, due to Pac's arm length, he will have to lunge in with his uppercut. With that type of punch and due to pac leaving his body open when he does lunge with punches, He will be in a lot of trouble if he misses. He will set is himself up for cotto's body shots.

    2. In order for the uppercut to be effective you have to throw it in an upward trajectory (aka 45) to be able to put the proper power behind it. The only problem, He will have to be in Miguel's Kitchen to throw it proper, and that's exactly where Miguel wants the fight to be.

So don't be fooled by Judah and Margarito's effect use of the uppercut against Cotto and think Manny will use it also. It would be suicide for team Pacquiao to go out and try to get at Cotto with uppercuts.
    I totally agree.
Not to mention JMM was catching Pac and even buckleing him a couple of times with LEFT HOOKS and STRAIGHT RIGHTS.Check the JMM vs Pac Highlights.
Then check Cottos highlights.....KOing fighters and hurting guys with mostly left hooks and straight rights.
Those are the ingredients for a KO.

Good post. I don't think they will include the uppercutt on their gameplan. They will aproach Cotto the same way he did to Oscar, in and out with a lot of straights.

cotto is a sucker for the uppercut. judah hit him with it. margo made him quit with it. clottey hit cotto with it.

for sure pac will hit cotto with the uppercut. only way this doesn't happen is if cotto works on his defense, but it's been 3+ fights where he's been getting hit with it, so i dunno about that.

Yeah, i would hope by now Cotto knows his weak uppercut defence and will work on it. Though uppercuts are kinda new to manny, so's Cotto's (hopeful) defence for it. Should be interesting to observe this aspect of the fight.

Pac doesn't use the uppercut much, but he did KO 3k batt w/ a right upper cut. The right uppercut is much closer than the left uppercut in the southpaw stance and comes at a deceptive angle.

Cotto needs to keep his elbows tightagainst his body or he will do the chicken dance again, possibly even quitting again

Lol...what's all this with the chicken dancing? And defence-Cotto does exactly that...keeps his elbows in tight...most good body punchers have good body defence. I think Cotto will do better close up. Better chance to get that deadly left hook to the liver. I think it's a mixed bag of clashing style we are going to see. Pretty much power vs speed. But both guys have a good ammount of both. Can't knock either one.

It's because these guys are so good that has this forum going crazy, anticipating a very controversial fight that could go either way.

The winner? Well, that's why they are fighting. I like and respect both guys a lot, and it's a really, really intrigueing matchup. i can't wait.

I said this a while back, pac's uppercut will not be a factor in this fight. he will use a hit and move style keeping his distance.

Perfect, that way he can club Cotto on the way in just like Judah and Clottey did, or just like Pac did to DLH, then he can roll out of the way like he does to everyone.

Um...who won those fights with Judah and Clottey?? And by everyone do you mean his otherwise unblemished record if it wern't for PoP?
