The uppercut WILL NOT be a factor in Cotto/Pac.

I don't understand why people keep bringing this up, and how anybody with boxing knowledge thinks that Manny will use the uppercut as an effective weapon against Cotto.

Its either gonna be throw two ways from a distance or up close

    1. The reason I say from a distance is because I feel in order for Pac to be effective he will have to keep the fight at a distance with good footwork and in and out punches. If its from a distance, due to Pac's arm length, he will have to lunge in with his uppercut. With that type of punch and due to pac leaving his body open when he does lunge with punches, He will be in a lot of trouble if he misses. He will set is himself up for cotto's body shots.

    2. In order for the uppercut to be effective you have to throw it in an upward trajectory (aka 45) to be able to put the proper power behind it. The only problem, He will have to be in Miguel's Kitchen to throw it proper, and that's exactly where Miguel wants the fight to be.

So don't be fooled by Judah and Margarito's effect use of the uppercut against Cotto and think Manny will use it also. It would be suicide for team Pacquiao to go out and try to get at Cotto with uppercuts.

Diaz is the only fight where Pac threw any uppercuts wit regularity. he ain't really got 1 anyway. Sure he could add one, but I doubt him bein dumb enuf to try it for this fight.

To throw the uppercut effectively you have to be in close range. That is exactly were Team Cotto wants the fight at.

The uppercut is a relatively new approach for Manny, and i think he will be a little unconfident with it. Meanwhile team Cotto anticipates this and works even more on Cotto already good defense., especially body defence. Body slammers have good body defence.

            Solis is no Cotto.....

The uppercut shouldn't be a factor since Pacquiao should want to dart in and out like usual if he ends up on the inside he'll taste some nasty body shots from Cotto.

Pac may use it when/if Cotto lunges in.

Look how many good uppercuts Clottey landed. And they were hard flush shots that rocked Cotto's head back. Who won that fight? A one eyed Cotto that was blind in one eye.

The problem I see for Manny in this fight is that Cotto has the earmuff guard, usually straight punches don't get through the earmuff guard its the roundhouse hooks and uppercuts that get through it.

And Mannys favourite punch is the straight left, so Manny may be working on darting in close to get off hooks and maybe the uppercut and getting out again. If Cotto is smart he'll know this and use it to slow Manny using body shots so that Manny won't be able to get in and out as quickly and wear him down.

I'm struggling to make a pick in this fight
