    KHAN first loss...

Would you chalk it up to bad planning? I mena the more i think about it... they guy he was fighting had huge power it even shows on his record to put pressure on him and rush him early on doesn't make any sense. Even when I'm playin FN4 i don't even do that i wanna see what this guy has and then begun to figure out a strategy.

I don't think Khan has bad fundamentals he's still young still has allot of room for improvement which will come in time. But i think what it does show is if you don't follow a sound game plan you get KTFO. I would blame his trainer for that.

yeah but you don't need huge power to win. you have to see what a boxer brings to the table and use that Wlad doesn't have inside fighting so he boxes. play to the strengths of the fighter to their weakness that's why i feel it's his trainers fault.

Prescott had beaten no one of any note, so its hard to say it was bad planning, if Prescott had knocked over 2/3 contenders, then Warren and Rubio would probably not have considered taking him, but the fact that his record looked padded they thought they would be okay, plus the whole thing behind it imo was to reassure everyone that Khan was not being protected from punchers, because hardly any of his opponents before that were in double fgures for knockouts and he had still been dropped a couple of times by blown up SFW.

There are many of fighters all over the World with good knockout ratio's but its who you are knocking out. Warren/Rubio knew this and that is why they took on Prescott, because they assumed he was just one of these guys that knocks a lot of people out and then when he steps up a level his KO's dry up and you rapidly find out he is not such a big hitter as his record suggested.

On the game plan. Khan did not go straight at Prescott like Mike Tyson or Hatton, he actually tried a different tactic which was.................to hold your feet more and to slip and counter from mid range, but he is not use to doing this, especially against such a big puncher. People make out he went out like a wild man and got caught when he did not, he just tried to fight from a different range so he could slip punches to counter, because he had been working on avoiding punches and making you pay because they were questions about his defence/chin, that is why Rubio was hired in the first place.

Rubio basically tried to train Khan like a typical Cuban fighter. Hands high slipping and countering.

Prescott was a good fight for that stage in Khan's career on paper.

A small time prospect with a winning record

They hardly stuck him in there with Edwin Valero. Anyone of note in 135lbs-140lbs would trounce Prescott

No, the biggest myth in boxing is that you need 'huge power' to deliver a good KO punch.

Very good post!! Spot on, if you watch khan v prescott he was just fighting at a risky range, he didnt run in all guns blazing
