Also, writing is "just" my part time gig. I'm fortunate enough to write for a site as great as this one, but I don't eat off of this, not by any means.

Weekend Preview: And Why Results Don’t Matter

Flyboy, for someone asking where the author went to school based on his alleged inability to write, I'm curious where you went to school based on your seeming inability to read.
The author wasn't saying that the fighters don't matter. The author was saying that the results don't always have the consequences we believe they do. His case in point -- Prescott beats Khan. Prescott doesn't get a title shot this weekend. Khan does.

Am surprised people read this as hating on Khan. THe point the author seemed to be making is pretty clear: a no-name beat a big name, the loser still wound up with the title shot.
It's not hating to think Prescott deserves a title shot more than Khan since he Ko'd him. Of course it's all about who you know and your connections. Kotelnik makes more money fighting Khan than Prescott. Simple as that. Khan has good management who lined him up with a home title shot after beating the clubfighter ***an and the severely faded Barrera.
THe author's point is correct: in this case, in the end, the results of the Prescott-Khan didn't matter in the sense that the winner is currently fighting nobodies and the loser is fighting for a title. There are reasons for that, but it's still a true.

I wasn't trying to hate on him at all, and will openly admit that I did a very poor job of conveying that point if my article came across any other way. I like Khan, and have always been a fan.
I just found it interesting that ten months after their head to head meeting, Khan and Prescott are now fighting on the same exact weekend.
Khan - the knockout victim in that fight - has rebuilt to where his career hasn't missed a beat, to where he's now preparing for the biggest fight as a pro to date.
On the very same weekend, Prescott - the knockout winner - is still no further along than he was prior to the Khan fight.
That's honestly the only point I was making.
And I went to St. John's, to answer your question - back when they were still the Redmen (though on the verge of changing to the corny ass Red Storm). I was a year behind Malik Sealy, R.I.P., and three behind Jayson Williams - who, to put it nicely, was the exact opposite of the always classy Malik.

Ask Amir Khan if there’s any truth to it.
Ten months after being mistaken for a ring apron logo, the 2004 Olympic silver medalist prepares for his first crack at a major alphabet title when he faces junior welterweight titlist Andriy Kotelnik.
The fight takes place this Saturday at the M.E.N. Arena in Manchester, England. That would be the same M.E.N. Arena where promoter Frank Warren hopes to turn him into the building’s next house fighter, as he now plays the building for the third time in ten months. [details]

Jake,
Appreciate the time you take to respond to the peanut gallery here. It take guts and dedication to do that - almost as much as it takes to run a marathon during a heatwave!

Khan gets his arse KO in 54 seconds and gets a title shot, Prescott on the other hand has to keep on working his way up the ranks and wait for a title shot. I must be missing something; well not really khan is a joke and we will get to see that tomorrow.
