Cotto was the title holder and everybody knows if you wanna get the title you have to win beyond any doubt which Clottey didn't do. Cotto's bloody eye cut influenced the scores but that was a head but. He didn't quit and didn't show any weakness while fighting with just one eye.
When Mayweather was 28 he fought Baldomir (35yo at that time). He also fought Judah, in both fights winning by UD. Cotto and Clottey knocked Judah out and Judah only has loss against known names like Tszyu, Spinks, Baldomir, Maygay, Cotto and Clottey... and he is only 31
