Well to me i feel if Pacquiao retires right now, then he has achieved way more then Mayweather has. But if Pacquiao was to retire on a Cotto win, then he would be a legend with the ATG's that will live on forever.

But my questions are, do you think Mayweather needs Pacquaio or Pacquiao needs Mayweather??? and do you think Pacquiao has already Stamped his legacy?
IMO, A Cotto win at catchweight does not do anything for his legacy. But history will be good to him so this will increase his legacy. Catchweights are not easily remembered by casual fans.

I agree with you that Pac has achieve more than Floyd at this point. But who knows ... maybe Pac retires after Cotto and Floyd went on a tear of risky opponent.

Mayweather needs Pacquiao more ... both in terms of legacy and money. His negotiating power would rocket upwards. Of course he is already in that category 2 years ago, but Pac has filled that void pretty well in his megafight performances. If he wins over pac, he will be back on the financial A-side of any fight negotiations. Legacy-wise ... Yes, but not that much. He will always be viewed as the bigger, more skillful man and rightfully odds-favorite if they ever do meet.

Pac has already sealed his legacy. I have supported him even before the Sasakuk fight and have enjoyed the ride from the one-dimensional to the complete fighter he is know. I would not have blamed him if he chooses easy fights. But looking at his proposed opponents(Cotto, Mosley, or Floyd).. those are not easy fights catchweight or otherwise. But knowing pac, he will be competitive and always entertain us - win, lose, or draw. So any fight from here onwards will only add to his legacy but his place in history is already secured.

Manny Pacquiao seems to have been doing well tremendously without Mayweather for the last decade or so. With Cotto`s demolition, Pac would be the only boxer in all-time history to have won 7 weight titles and 4 lineal titles.

Mayweather does not surpass that except for the `0` that a lot of boxers currently have, nor does he have a welterweight title that Pac needs to make his legacy.

So yes, Pac does not need PBF, and PBF needs Pac, unretiring and willing to sacrifice his `0` to pay the IRS.

i'm not saying it would be a slaughter house show...but i think pac may have a slight advantage over the what JMM can do...they are both basically the same fighter...those wild looping punches will bring murder to pac's face if he goes in like that on mayweather...

Nah, nothing to prove. But, everyone will always bring up the question for decades to come - who would've won between Pac and Mayweather? I'd sooner find out, than speculate.

Really, I hope both the Cotto and Marquez fights still get cancelled. Despite my desire for Pac-Marquez III, Pac-Mayweather is the only real superfight that should happen this year.

For that, I wouldn't even mind a catchweight. 144 would be fine.

and that 0 means nothing because he avoid the top fighters.

pac dont got nothing else to prove, he's done it all. just getting in the ring with cotto shows his character and warrior spirit. something floyd lacks due to fear of losing his 0.

Pac is already a great of the sport. All this higher weight stuff is not necessary for me. He is fighting guys who are out of his weight class. Fair enough if he beats them, but the wins that made him a great are the ones at the lower weights.
