    hitter

I'm new to thsi forum, so forgive me if this has been discussed.

I am wondering about the phrase, "a hitter is born and a boxer is made" (or something like that. Corrections are welcome.

I know talent has something to do with it, but...why is that?

    thanks,

    dennis

It comes from the belief that if you have a dedicated enough student and he learns well etc. then he can become very good technically. His jab, his defence, his movement etc. can all get to a high level. But the one thing that you can't teach is power.

If you look at 95% of young prospects who go on to achieve something, their skills will improve along the way, but with power, it seems that you either have it or you don't, at least when it comes to the real heavy hitters.

yes boxers arnt born..they are made..but some people have natural power in their punches..but still have to be trained on the proper technique of throwing the punch

but some people have power but dont know how to deliver it correctly...then as their careers go on you notice they get more ko's cause they learn how to get the proper leverage and know the correct distance they need to be to deliver the punch.....distance and timing is key in delivering your punch with the most power
