please man get real with the excuses will ya...hopkins chose to put himself in that position with that jailbird mentality...always thinking "the man" is doing him dirty...the casual fan just wants to see good matchups and at that time hopkins wasn't fighting nobody noteworthy...fighting part-time firefighters like bo james...get real

See this goes to show you have absolutely no perspective and no idea how the game works.
Hopkins was a head of his time in many ways. In the 90's fighters had very little control of their own destinies and hopkins was out to change that, and rightfully so. Hopkins also fought very hard for, and was, an advocate for fighters' rights and even testified before Congress in support of the Muhammad Ali Boxing Reform Act by which he made many enemies within the boxing industry (he was one of the few active fighters that had the balls to testify).
And to call it a jailbird mentality is ridiculous...would you say the same about Marvin Hagler who also fought the boxing establishment for much of his career??Comment

How can a title reign begin without having the titles? You make no sense. The Draw means nothing for his 20 title defenses as he didn't even have the titles.
His title reign began when he won his first belt, which was the rematch and he won by 5th round KO.Comment
