Watch the 10th round of the Clottey/Cotto fight, pay very close attention to the last 15 or so seconds. Clottey was coming in against Cotto, putting more pressure than he had been most of the fight, then Cotto landed a solid left hand, then another. It didn't "hurt" Clottey in terms of stunning him or knocking him down, it did however do enough damage to make Clottey back off. It had to have hurt a bit and Clottey said thought he probably did enough and played it safe because of that left hand and it cost him the fight. People also say if the fight had been anywhere else Cotto would have lost...

If the first round is 10-8, 4th round was 10-9 Cotto, 6th round Cotto, and 12th round Cotto that is 3 rounds to Cotto (obvious Cotto rounds) and the 1st round was worth two. That alone Clottey couldn't have won by more than 1 point and its not as if the other rounds were close. 2 and 3 could have gone either way, 10 was a toss up as well because of the two bombs Cotto landed, and the 11th was a toss up as well. Some people thought Cotto won, in the media or otherwise, and others felt Clottey won it was a close fight period. I'm a huge Cotto fan and I had a draw but the knockdown got Cotto the win just because a guy doesn't slaughter or look like the GOAT doesn't mean he isn't a good fighter. Cotto gets crap because he doesn't look perfect and people just ignore the quality of opponents he's fought his entire career.

As for the topic... I'm sure Cotto can beat Margarito he just has to do what Mosley did and hold, the problem is Cotto just isn't that kind of fighter he doesn't hold and that's what will cost him the fight 9/10 times. If they fight again all Cotto has to do is what he did in the first fight and when Margarito fires back just grab him, it won't be a classic like the first but he'll win which probably still won't do anything about his naysayers.

      To put it simply:

Cotto is the superior boxer and margarito is the superior brawler.

if cotto was a "quitter" he would of quit with that cut in the clottey fight he would have quit during the toress fight. Cotto is not quitter. He got beat it was over there was nothing left. A quitter is victor ortiz when the fight gets hard he finds a way out. Cotto doesn't do that cotto could of quit earlier in the cheato fight but he didnt he gave it his best shot. And that night it wasn't good enough. NExt time if they ever do fight again he beats margo.

Do you think Cotto has a chance with Pacquiao if he brings the same boxing style he used when he fought Margarito and Clottey? I'm just curious what will the cotto fan will say.

I have to say Cotto is the better fighter and boxer, and most if not all of his fights show that he is more versatile. He's patient and picks his shots more accurately than Marg.

Margarito is more one dimenstional where his chances are to utilise his physical advantages while absorbing some damage to get the win. From what i've seen with Marg, is that he likes to **** inside or work his way closer to the opponent when he'd be more successful from the outside.

The difference between the two is., Cotto is patient and accurate while Marg is tougher physically and can take more punishment than Cotto.

My point is, if it was Cotto was in there with Mosley instead of Marg (in my opinion, Mosley looked a lot better in the Marg fight than with Cotto), then at least Cotto would've had enough patience to pick at his opponent (something he didn't change up during his fight with Marg) without his usual 'forward pressure' on his opponent style.

All the above is my opinion, so don't take it to heart...
