Maybe they figure that Andre vs Andre will get more attention in Europe if they are both coming off of fights against Europeans, and Kessler-AA gets more US attention if they are coming off of fights against Americans?

thats about right, kess is known by some in the US since his fight against calzaghe was shown on HBO but AA is slightly well less known and a fight against JT would get some people talking.

as a sidenote - is it me or is JT now at risk of only being known as the guy who beat hopkins twice, rather than a champ?

as for the tourney can anyone really see this tourney going off wihtout a hitch? imo some fighters will withdraw, some will decide to face mandatories for the sake of their belts etc. i can see only the first round being properly completed, after that i think we may get some decent match ups but it might not be a round robin style.

Yeah, I think we'll probably see a couple pulling out after one or two fights, but I think they'll be able to salvage the situation and still have the semis and the final.

If someone loses their first two fights by KO, I doubt they are going to stay in it.

Still, I'm sure they'll make it work and have a plan B etc.

i was reading in a magazine yesterday that all the non titlists in the tourney are highly ranked in the wba and wbc anyways and they will use them as mandated defences for the sake of the tourni. plus the wba will just make another title like always
