    That Moment.......

when you look back at everything you've watched, whats that moment that immediately comes to mind? The bit that runs in slow motion through your head? Most boxing people I speak to have one of these moments... What's yours?

I'm a big Hearns fan, but regrettably, my moment is against Hagler when he gets tagged in the 3rd, turns his head to the side & does a little backwards waltz with a hysterical grin on his face.. He kinda play acted, but was KTFO at the same time! Quite extraordinary.. I'll never forget it...

    Froch vs Taylor

I managed to avoid the result all day and waited for the replay on ITV. The thing is, I did actually click 'new posts' on this forum out of curiosity but quickly exited before I saw anything. However, my wandering eyes managed to find a bit that said 'Taylor beats Froch'.

I was gutted, but still determined to watch the fight later that night. I remember being in bed watching it, then in the last round when he started that big flurry of punches I got out of bed. As soon as he knocked him down, I started going crazy. Jumping up and down. When the fight stopped I genuinely felt happy for Froch.

It's crazy, Froch isn't a favourite fighter of mine. But still got my adrenaline rushing around my body.

Tyson gettin KTFO by Douglas when I was a kid. At the time, I may as well have seen a UFO land in my backyard. 1 of those things that was gr8 to witness, but not cuz you think it's gr8, it's just unimaginable.

Froch's the most exciting fighter out there, by a long long way.. I'd say, if you keep watcing him, you'll need to reinforce the floor boards..
Your post reminded me of when I watched Benn McClellan.. I don't normally watch boxing in the bedroom, but I didn't want any distractions, so I holed up upstairs..
Virtually the whole country as well as all of the commentators & experts, didn't give Benn a cat in Hells chance.. If I'm honest, neither did I.. McClellan was just coming off back to back KO wins over Julian Jackson, & was considered a pheonominon..
For the 1st round, I just sat on the edge of the bed, perplexed as Benn was punched out of the ring & onto the judges score table..
When Benn managed to survive the round, I thought, it's only a matter of time, sooner rather than later.. But Benn started to fight back, in the most courageous fashion, eventually turning the tables on McClellan for an 11 round KO.. Throughout the last 3 rounds, I was doing exactly the same as you were with Froch, nose to nose with the TV screen, screaming at it & stamping my feet while causing concern downstairs & next door.. Obviously, at the time, I wasn't at all aware of Geralds plight, which unfortunately took most of the pleasure away, but I still went mental that night..

Another time.. Was listening to live commentry of Honeyghan Curry at 4 am on a transister pocket radio.. I just couldn't believe he'd won, & never slept a wink that night.. I refused to believe it, until it was repeated on the TV.. This was b4 the days of satellite...

For me it would be Holyfield knocking out Tyson. Douglas a bigger upset, but Holyfield was the far superior fighter to Douglas so that does it for me.

He was Tommy's boogie man, & the most classic examples of 'styles make fights' Hearns just couldn't deal with it.. In my opinion, he hurt him a lot worse in the 2nd fight.. You could make an argument for the 1st encounter, on the grounds that it was a lucky punch.. But Tommy got owned over 12 in the rematch, having his nose broken in the early rounds.. In fact, he did well, just to finish on his feet..
