  • Has Hopkins Been In Any Serious Trouble Since Being released From Prison?

I see people talk about him on here like the guy is in and out of jail all the time, so let's get to it has he even been in any serious trouble since being released from prison? I have been following Hopkins since I was a kid and i cannot ever recall him being in any serious trouble at all. Can someone shed some light on this? I am curious about this one, my bet is he hasn't even been close to getting in trouble that would land him in prison since his release.

Not that I can recall, remember what he said to the warden when he said "see you when you come back"?

      "I'm not coming back"

people are ****** and like to judge people by their past...hopkins life then is the polar opposite of his life now....he's an honest dedicated hard working citizen and should be treated accordingly

I don't even think he has received a ticket since. He lives a clean life, and has lived clean for over twenty years.

nope, he's been the perfect role model since. There are some gaylords on this site that talk **** about him, call him an ex-con, etc. like that rocky ***** that posts here, but the truth of the matter is hopkins lives a very disciplined lifestyle, hasn't drank since 1988, doesn't party, doesn't waste his money on bull****, etc. If only MORE fighters took note of hopkins and tried to be a little bit like him.

I think he is a thug. Simply because he has turned his life around and not been in trouble does not make him a good man. It merely makes him an honest man if, for nothing else, fear of the law is the only reason behind it. He's also a bigot a dirty fighter and a sore loser. Just because you like him does not mean others have to like him.

He may be a 'role model' for those who have already been in trouble with the law. But he is not a role model for all youngsters. It almost prescribes going to jail then starting your life. Yeah, he's paid his debt to society...blah blah blah. I think he's selfish and arrogant.

I remember one of the first people that fought RJJ in Trenton. He had a similar story. But HE was an affable man. hopkins is always talkin' trash and backs it up with cagey, unethical behavior in the ring. Feh, what can I tell you? The man is scum.

                So is paulie malignaggi btw.

Thats what I thought. People need to ease up on the man, he is a good example of what hard work and dedication to something you love can do for someone. I made the thread simply because i'm sick of hearing people talk like he's in & out of jail all the time. I consider Hopkins a hero, he defied the odds and became one of the very best to ever box or tuen his life around. Call him a thug if you want but the truth is he did more with his life than most would even attempt.

If the issue is just him being dirty c'mon....alot of fighters are dirty. In fact almost every fighter has probably commited a foul or lost there temper and butted a guy or threw an elbow, almost all pros have surely been in something thats a little if'y at one time or another.
