Carl Froch, 32, has moved to dampen down the claims that he will be moving abroad in order to escape from the prohibitive UK tax rates. Froch told thisisnottinghamonline that he was ‘misquoted’ during an interview, claiming that he had merely expressed a desire to live abroad once he hangs up his gloves. Froch, like many Brits, wishes to move somewhere warmer when he retires, he will not become an ex-pat for tax reasons. [details]

Not at all. I have epilepsy which is quite severe. The NHS was unable to adequately provide for me with waiting lists and all. The quality of care I get over here is MUCH better for what I have. In general, health should be free. I get that. At the end of the day - I get the proceedures I need, when I need them. I switched to private when I was in England but to be honest it wasn't much better - the problem is that the private systems still rely on NHS for a lot of things. 6 week wait for an MRI? That's just not cricket. (Speaking of which is anybody watching the ashes right now. My money's on us getting at least 400 runs by the time our innings is up).
I'm not trying to debate the merits and pitfalls of national health. For some people it's great, for others not so much. I'm just trying to say for me, it wasn't working out, so I did what I had to do.Comment
