The reason is Mayeather.... Mayweather would have never let this fight go off, if he thought Cotto had a shot....

He wants to be the one that beat Pacquiao.... This is the biggest, most popular fighter that he could fight this generation...

Of course Cotto could land something... I not saying that he cant.... But in boxing there is only a slim chance of that happening....

Manny and Floyd know that Manny has too much lateral movement and too much speed for Cotto......

Again, if Floyd thought the Cotto would beat Manny he would have made the fight.....

Dont say Arum wouldnt have, and would have made Cotto v Manny instead....

floyd has no pull when it come to who bob arum wants to put up against his top rank fighters and if he really saw a weakness in cotto then he would have fought him after he beat hatton when the fight was basically there when cotto beat mosely floyd is scared of cotto hes hoping and praying pacquiao wins so that he can fight the smaller guy as usual if cotto wins then floyd is going to retire again or maybe he will man up and fight cotto..... people who say cotto is tune up are sounding like noobs and seem like casaul boxing fans but hardcore fans like me would rather see guys fighting people in there own weightclass i would much rather see floyd vs cotto and pac vs marques then the winner to move on and fight the best in their own divisions.... you know like cotto and marques seem to do..... i for one do not want to see floyd vs pac because no matter who wins its gona be debated with excuses (floyd was weight drained) or (pac was too small for him)...... ok now i am going to rip off the tags on you guys because i own you and am not giving you back (super corny i know but the best i can think of in short notice)

Pacquiao is using Cotto as a tune up for his fight with Mayweather. Pacquiao watched the fight between Cotto and Clottey and right after the fight pac asked Arum to match him with Cotto ASAP. Pacman without a doubt believes that Clottey won the fight and he thinks that Cotto is a good tune fight before fighting Mayweather.

WOW i see a very pro manny and mayweather fan here. If you think clottey won the fight watch the fight again and if you still think he won the fight watch it again until you come to senses. When you say cotto is a good tune up fight before fighting mayweather that is absurd if its going to be a tune-up you would want someone with a similar style not an aggressive fighter like cotto. I dont know if anybody remembers this but with a cut as big as the one cotto had he couldnt look any more impressive than he did against a strong fighter with a great defense. It was a close fight but cotto won easily 115-112.
