Cotto will test Pacquiao's "mythical" power

Cotto has a reputation of being a chinny fighter but that was in the past. @ JWW, he was hurt and wobbled by Demarcus Corley and Ricardo Torres. Since his move up to WW, the man has taken flush shots from Mosley, Margarito, Judah and Clottey and has yet to be knocked down (voluntary knees not included). He also posseses fast recovery when stunned. He has proven his toughness. If Pacquiao can't hurt him, he is fucked. Pac can have some success early on with his speed alone but Cotto's style has historically neutralized speedy boxers(Judah, Quintana...both southpaws).

    Thoughts?

Cotto's style has notoriously been known to turn to dust after the 7th round. Pacquiao's style has been known to continue for 12 full rounds. And Pacquiao's style is something you definately don't want to get tired against because he hits just as hard in the 12th as he did in the 1st.

Cotto wont get hurt early in the fight. He hardly ever does. After the 6th or 7th round, he falls apart. Pacquiao isn't a stationary fighter like Clottey, puts on pressure like Margarito, has fast hands like Mosley, and has alot of power. Cotto is in for hell...

You heard it here first: Watch for the low blow... It will come.

Bull****. No low blows necessary. Cotto's gonna steamroll the bastard.

He's gonna put a beating on Pacquiao like Lopez put on Peenalosa. (deliberate misspelling to emphasize the Peen.)

Cotto's learned to dance away and eat rounds when he's hurt instead of slugging or trying to tie up.
That's been the case with Mosley, Margarito, and Clottey late in all three fights when he was buzzed he didn't go in recklessly or clumsily, he danced away until he got his strength back (save for Margarito).

It's not the most fan friendly style late in fights, but hey it gets him the win.
Pac can buzz him because he has much more mental focus than Judah and he's a fast southpaw who seems to get out of the way a little more against bigger guys.
I don't think Pac's power is a myth at all. He laid Diaz and Hatton, two pretty tough guys out, with one shot.

If Cotto has that pretty jab that he had for the first 7 rounds of Mosley, Pac is in trouble.
But if Cotto fades late, don't know if he can salt it away with Pac. Pac may beat him on workrate.

I don't think Cotto is going to walk him down all night, cuz he's gonna eat shots. If he jabs away and picks his spots, he can definitely discourage Pac into getting a little too reckless.

Bottom line, Pac can punch and hurt any of these guys or at least make Cotto shy.

Pacquiao will win on speed. He will not come to brawl. it will look like the De La Hoya fight, only competitive this time.

I don't think Cotto will ever be pressured Margarito-style by anyone else except Margarito himself. Clottey tried but he failed. Pacquiao lacks the volume, strength and chin that Tony had. Don't get me wrong, Pacquiao has a granite chin but he has been hurt by featherweights. Cotto is a true WW and will definitely hurt Pac if he gets pressured by him.

Clottey is no volume puncher. He was pressuring, but was doing so throwing 2 or 3 shots. margarito was throwing 20-30.

Clottey's problem has always been above the neck. He always chokes when the chips are down.

You're right in that if Cotto loses, it won't be a Marg style fight at all.

Both guys can get hurt. Pac doesn't seem to get shy when hurt like Cotto does.
