Even in the fight with Oscar, he won by only one point and oscar was never busy enough and and at the end of the night Oscar barely had a scratch on him! I know that fight was at 54 but the point I'm making is that he may have speed but without power, cotto will walk right thru him or Floyd is gonna win on points in a fight that he'll have to run so much that it will steal away from the excitement of wanting to see him in the ring again! And at this point in his career it's so important for him to stay marketable that he's still fighting lighter fighters and avoiding guys at 147. I just don't see Floyd winning impressively or easily against and beltholder at 147 and not cotto cuz like u said he comes to fight and he won't let Floyd coast for 12 rounds, he is gonna make him fight
Oscar De La Hoya was/is 5' 10 1/2" and had one of the hardest
hooks and solid jabs in boxing at one point and weighed 160 to
Floyd's 148 on fight night. Floyd is an inch taller than Cotto and
has a longer reach, is faster, more defensive, accurate and conditioned
to go the full 12 without breaking a sweat. The only thing Cotto has
over Floyd is a heavier punch but when have you ever seen Floyd in
trouble in a major way? Cotto has been stunned or wobbled by lesser
punchers and gets hit waaaaay more than anyone at 147 besides
Margarito. Not to mention that Floyd is more durable than Cotto
in the chin department. I mean, if I believed Cotto could beat Floyd
in my eyes then I would be more than happy to say it, but I just
don't see it. Cotto gets props for fighting the top guys at 147 and
only having 1 blemish which could be questionable but when you
compare the pros and cons, Floyd tops Cotto all day. Floyd would
have to come into the ring slipping to lose in my opinion.

Floyd is deceptively strong and he beats Cotto on the outside and the inside.

You're whole argument leans on the belief Floyd can't hurt Cotto..that's where you're wrong.

After about 30 jabs to the solar-plexis Cotto will be looking for a place on the canvas to lay his weary head...especially when those right hands come blazing in.
There is no question that Floyd beats him on the outside! And in the clottey fight what do you call fight 9 rounds with a busted eye? If that's not walking thru or at least not being detered, I don't know what is? I don't doubt that Floyd can outbox cotto, but do u think he can out heart him if the fight gets tough?

Pauli Malignaggi don't have punching power EXAMPLE: 25-2-0 (5KO's)
Ivan Calderon don't have punching power EXAMPLE: 32-0-0 (6 KO's)

Those are fighters without punching power

          Floyd Mayweather Jr 39-0-0 (25 KO's) that's only 14 fights
          by decision.

          Miguel Cotto 34-1-0 (27 KOs)

Cotto only has 2 more knock outs over Floyd in two divisions.
Floyd has been getting his KO on through 5 divisions.

What makes you think that Floyd don't have enough power to
          put Cotto out?

Most of that I agree with except for floyd's chin! Like u said he's never been in trouble so how do u know? I've always thought the key to beating Floyd was to rough him up and I think cotto would do that! I'm not saying cotto would win but I can't believe that it would be an easy night!

            • It's about time.

              Shane's one of my top 5 fave boxers of all time, i was behind him 100 percent in his decision to seek the big money fights;

But the problem was that he was never gonna get them this year.

Again, Cotto gets props for fighting to the end with the cut
but Cotto fades in the later rds and Floyd gets better and
stronger and at the end of the day, that will make the
                difference.

DeMarcus Corley, Phillip Ndou, Jose Luis Castillo and even Zab Judah
tested Floyd's chin and he weathered and shook it off. Remember
Ndou record was 31-1 with 30 KO's and was labeled the "Knockout
Specialist" & Floyd fought offensively the whole fight and stop Ndou
who was naturally bigger than Mayweather. Cotto is not bigger than
Mayweather. Anything can happen on fight night but I would bet on
                  Floyd when/If that fight happens.

than a lot of guys in the Sport and for the record, Williams ain't
Margarito and Paul can actually move, box and create weird
angles. In order for Mosley to stand a chance Williams would
have to fight Mosley's fight and Paul is too awkward to do that.
Mosley has the power but will Paul sit their like Margarito did
and rely on his chin t win the fight? & remember, Margarito
hit Williams with some bombs in the 2nd half of their match
and Margarito still couldn't control the fight. Like I said, I will
never count Mosley out but I would have to lean towards Paul.
True, but Mosley isn't a stationary target like Wright, he will go to the body and tie up Paul to prevent him from setting up his shots, he is the fastest fighter Williams has faced and the strongest, Williams was getting hit too much by Phillips, Tony and Wright, if he gets tagged as much by Mosley I see him hurting and probably knocking Williams out or if he has to outbox Williams if he has to.

I remember chop chop buzzed him, and if zab had any kind of stamina he could have made that fight interesting! And the 1st castillo fight is the blueprint to beating Floyd. And cotto's style is close to that!
