Where Is Our Respect?

(7/6/09) The face of boxing has changed dramatically in the past five years. Most of the champions from middleweight up happen to be white. There are just too many talented white fighters from Europe. This brings up a very interesting question: Why do white fighters get so little respect from the media and fans?
Joe Calzaghe is one of the best boxers who ever lived. He retired 46-0 but still has many critics. Many white fans think that Calzaghe should have a loss to Bernard Hopkins. I wonder which fight they were watching? Calzaghe has defeated "black hope" after "black hope" but is criticized by the media for fighting a supposed post-prime racist in Bernard Hopkins and known steroid user Roy Jones Jr. Some even say Joe "slaps" when he punches. My response to that is to watch the Calzaghe vs. Jeff Lacy fight.
Two other white fighters that are constantly criticized by the media are Vitali and Wladimir Klitschko. Wladimir did suffer a few bad losses earlier in his career but now is as dominant as ever. He has defeated countless black fighters but this is never enough. The heavyweight division is supposedly "very weak" at this point, meaning, in Caste-speak, that there aren't any black champions.
Vitali Klitschko is one of the best heavyweights of all time. He has never been down in a fight and has the highest knockout percentage of any heavyweight at 97 percent. Can a fighter be more dominant than that? I highly doubt it is possible. The one thing holding the Klitschko brothers back at this point is their skin color.
Everyone should enjoy boxing now because it has never been better. We have two white brothers as heavyweight champions. They are educated, well spoken and class acts all the way. There is one thing I can guarantee. You won't see them biting anyone's ear off in the ring. You also will not see their mugshots in the paper. Give them the respect they deserve.
