Marquez Will Beat Mayweather's Weight, Says Nacho

Nacho Beristain, trainer/manager of Juan Manuel Marquez, says the weight for the September 19 bout with Floyd Mayweather Jr. will present them with some problems but they are taking the proper steps to overcome those problems. The fight will take place at a catch-weight of 144, although there are conflicting reports of the fight being bumped to 147. Marquez is moving up from lightweight by nearly two weight divisions. It is easier for a seasoned fighter to move up in weight than for a 1.5 year absentee from the ring to fight the #2 P4P right away, in the caliber of Marquez. This will be a scary fight for PBF.

This is going to be a good fight. The winner gets Pac and the loser gets to beat up Hatton.

Lol I want the opposite. I want Cotto to KO Pac and JMM to UD/KO Floyd. But I must admit, I have been craving for a Mayweather - Cotto for years.

I don't get it. Is he saying that Marquez is going to come in heavier than Mayweather come fight night? I really hope this extra time gives Marquez what he needs to close the gap on the disadvantages. I'm definitely watching

I wouldn't mind seeing Marquez move up to 139-140 and keep as much speed and agility as possible. I still believe he would hurt Floyd if he is accurate. Mayweather would only have a 4 pound advantage. I have a feeling if Marquez bulks up to 142-44, he will be giving up his strengths as a fighter in order to match Mayweather's power which is nothing special as it is. I'm sure we all want to see Marquez at his best on Sept 19.
