Since when does having two losses mean you should retire?

People keep saying if Cotto loses to Pacquiao his career is over and he should retire. In a way that's a bit disrespectful to Manny, it's not as if he is some bum. Pacquiao is the man right now. So losing to Manny is an honor if it happens and its a huge deal if you beat him too.

But mainly my question is this, Cotto has only lost to Margarito who may have been cheating so how would a second win mean its time to pack it up and close up shop? He only looked bad against Clottey due to his eye being tore up.

I blame Mayweather for this once you lose or lose more than once you're a ruined fighter ideology. A lot of people really hold him in such a high regard for having his 0 still at this stage of the game but forget he is a hardcore cherry picker.

Dude has been in too many wars tbh and if he does lose to Pac who is coming way way up in weight from what he started you got this from his last 4 fights

    Brutal tko loss vs Margs
    Ko of a bum: Jennings
Very close fight with imo a b class fighter like CLottey
    Ko/tko by Pac

Put it this way Cotto really should beat Pac even if Pac is nr1 p4p, if he doesn't imo the Marg thing has "ruined him".

          1) Clottey is not a b class fighter, he would give anyone fits.
          2) He fought a hell of a fight against Cotto which in my opinion could have been scored anywhere between 115-112 for Cotto to 115-112 Clottey. I personally scored it 114-113 Cotto.

He shouldn't retire if he loses, but he gonna look foolish like DLH if he gets beat by lil Pac.

He hasn't beaten anybody of real note when he had the chance to step up vs Margo and Cotto he didn't, Injury might have been why vs Margaritto. But against Cotto he had the fight won if he continued with what he was doing rounds 6-9 or so. Cotto had a sick ass cut and he was there for the taking and Clottey didn't step up in the championship rounds. If he is not a b class fighter im guessing your saying he is A class or something? how so?

It depends on how he loses, if Pac batters him and embarasses him it means Cotto is on the downside of a great career and I would hope for him to quit before he is seriously injured. If its a good fight and he loses I think he still has plenty left to be in some great fights in the next few years.

Since Hatton received his first lost to Mayweather, many seemed he should just retire.

I don't think he should retire, but it is no lie that he hasn't looked the same since Margarito did work on him.
