Think about it, he comes from the same background as Fernando ****ing Vargas. Someone who hates to lose. Normally after a loss you're either devasted( Corrales), either you're disappointed but giving the props to your opponent( Jones vs Tarver) but you never act like those UFC dudes when they get beat up and say " Yeah it's cool i'm an ultimate fighter, hahaha i got beat up". Especially since you did quit in the fight.

No but at least to be serious in the post fight interviews and not having fun and clowning around with that idiot smile on his face.Comment

Different attitudes for different people.
Maybe he is the Manny Ramirez of boxing.
It might be a good thing because he may be able to bounce back from a loss better...although if his heart isn't fully into it, it may be easier to stop.
Maybe it's the surfer attitude in him.Comment

Sorry, but when was it the norm for every to react in set guidlines. You must not smile! You must not look happy! You must not breathe! What's with this bull****, give the kid a break, just because he copes with a loss in a way you wouldn't.Comment

He just learned Power isn't everything. He knows he messed up and because of that it can actually work to his advantage because it gives him an excuse/reason (depending on how you view it)...on getting back into the ring. If he gave it is all and didn't have an answer to fix it, that's when you have a problem.
Power over-confidence: That happens. It shouldn't because fighters should learn from history but it happens to inexperienced fighters.
Even Foreman learned this the hard way.. Right after Frazier, Foreman's jab declined big time until he learned to get it back...he had to get it back.
Ortiz can learn from it. If he will, we'll see.Comment

i second this.
when i first seen that (before the doctor was signaled over by the ref to check the cut on the eye of ortiz) it appeared as if after that last time he was knocked down he was giving up.
the ref wanted him to come to him (check n make sure he's well enough to continue fighting) and ortiz shrugged him off and walked around him not looking to continue.
But afterwards when the doctor came up on the ring i thought ortiz said he was having problems with his eye.
Thats at least what it appears because from what i seen the doctor wasnt even going to get involved until it appeared ortiz requested for it...
i still dont believe that cut was bad enough to call the fight. it was still early; ortiz wasnt too badly hurt (he was of sound mind and seemed clear headed enough to fight easily) it seemed as if he just got discouraged and quit.Comment
