  • Please Save My favorite Sport of Boxing!

If you could tell a fighter something to do to help boxing what would it be?

I would tell Floyd to fight more often and the big names out there all. Floyd We know your great but your sport needs you just as much as you need the sport. After JMM please fight the winner of Miguel Cotto vs Manny Pacquiao, Shane Mosley, and then Paul WIlliams to end your brilliant career.

If you could tell any promoter something to do to help boxing what would it be?

Can't we all just get along. In this day in age boxing is dying because of companies like you. Please get along and put the best fights that the fans want to see on HBO and Showtime. I don't mind shelling out $55.00 for a mega fight if it is my interpetation of a mega fight. Please put up and coming fighters on Network Tv. Talk to NBC, ABC, FoX, CBS to have a regular Friday Night Fights. While I enjoy Espn Friday night fights the casual fan isn't looking for horrible match ups. And for Klitschko brothers to fight on Espn Classic vs Espn or College Softball for that matter is BS.

If you could tell the sanctioning bodies 1 thing what would it be?

Please go away. Sooner or later these promotional companies and TV execs are gonna wake up and stop acknowledging your BS champions.

I hate to say this...With UFC 100 coming around maybe everybody could learn from Dana White.

I don't agree with the Floyd point.. I mean if he faced all those fighters, that would be a killer sched for him.. you better ask your other fighters to do the same..

I do agree however on the networks in general. I remember growing up and watching wide world of sports and then later the fight would be on NBC.. they would even re-air the fights from the previous weekends ex. chaves vs taylor... Also loved tuesday night fights on USA

But for the networks to bite, they would need a steller/soild show. It would have been great if Oscar would have fought Mayorga.. or had shown PWill vs Margs on the networks like that.. It can still happen but promotors want too much of the pie. FNF wouldn't get the ratings if it were on NBC.. too poor of matchups.. People want to see good fights with good fighters.. maybe not a title fight since that would be $$$$$ but elimination fights would work great on a network particulary NBC.

Boxing doesn't need to be saved, it could use some adjustments but it will always be here

Networks need to IGNORE sanctioning bodies! They should use a universal ranking system like Yahoo sorts Boxing page for P4P rankings. Have writers and media personal from various countries vote on the top 10 rankings for the various weight classes. Like college football does for the AP poll. Then matchup the best vs the best it's that simple. Imagine the rankings released every month in various publications and casual fans knowing 1 is facing 2 and 9 is facing 10 etc, etc. It would give credibility to the sport and let casual fans know who these guys are.

Floyd is 1 of my favorite fighters. With Oscar gone this is Floyd's time to make the most fan favorite fights. And the casual fan would rather watch Mosley vs Mayweather, or the ultimate Floyd vs Manny. And I like your setup on network tv. The Networks pay the gizzilion bucks for the major sports they can afford boxing if quality fights are put together.
