I didn't mind Floyd when he put on a boring performance against Baldomir. He was preserving his 0 for the Oscar fight. I didn't mind when he fought Oscar for mucho dinero. It was expected. I didn't mind it when he fought Hatton. It was logical.

But then he retired. And I stopped caring at all. Cotto, Mosely, Margarito put on great shows. More importantly, all their fights were must-sees. And , now, with Pac thrown in the mix, things are bound to get more interesting.

I don't mind that Floyd is taking on a lightweight at all. If he didn't fight any welters down the line I wouldn't mind it either. He's superfluous to the division. The other fighters have made the division hot.

Floyd can take on Calderon in his next fight. I wouldn't mind. Welterweight would still be a hot division. Floyd can retire again, the rest of the fighters will continue fighting one another.

Floyd is useless at this point.

Let Cotto fight Calderon..he's already fighting featherweight Fanny Pac.

Seriously TS is less than 16. Here's a little bit of floyds hypocrisy. Until he actually signs on to fight someone aint nobody gonna believe it. Pacquiao is the face of boxing im sorry.

With the entertaining and colorful Floyd Mayweather coming back to boxing to meet Juan Manuel Marquez, a 35-year-old lightweight with four losses (for an estimated $15 million), let’s take a look back and try to celebrate some of Floyd’s media mutterings of the recent past. Mayweather vs. Marquez may turn out to be nothing but another handpicked, set-up business exhibition, but so what, Manny Pacquiao or Miguel Cotto might be next…

“If I did want to come back, I was going to make, what, $50 million (for the De La Hoya rematch)? You know what, don’t call my phone unless you’ve got $100 million.”

“I’m through. Once I tell people I’m through, I’m through. People say, ‘Oh, he retired and came back, after the De La Hoya fight.’ I didn’t retire and come back. I just fought one more fight, against Ricky Hatton. And as soon as I beat him, it was, ‘What about this guy (Cotto)?’ and ‘What about that guy (Margarito)?’ It’s never good enough. Some boxing people weren’t going to be happy until I take a loss, and that’s not ever going to happen. I achieved all I wanted to achieve.”

“When I’m 50 or 60, I want to be able to know my kids, and I want them to know me. I want all five senses to be sharp, sharp as a razor. I want to be able to live my life. That’s one thing I’ll say about my father, he gets around real, real good. My mother gets around real, real good. I want to be like that.”
“I don’t know who (Margarito) is.”

“Boxing won’t retire me, I will retire from boxing.”

“Margarito would be easy work. If Bob shows me the money, I’ll fight anybody anywhere. If it makes dollars it makes sense.”

“(Margarito is) levels below me. I’ll punish him for being on the level he is. I’ll punish him for disrespecting my team.”

“I have the best promoter out there in Bob Arum.”

“Bob Arum is the greatest promoter in history. I love Bob Arum. I love HBO.”

“…even a guy like Jim Lampley, he praises Kelly Pavlik — who has won some good fights, he beat Jermain Taylor twice, we have to give him credit for that — but they talk about Kelly Pavlik, a white fighter, like he’s the second coming. Or they go crazy over Manny Pacquiao. But I’m a black fighter. Is it racial? Absolutely. They praise white fighters, they praise Hispanic fighters, whatever. But black fighters, they never praise.”

“I’m with Goossen-Tutor and me and Dan’s going to take it to the next level. I mean he’s, I mean, man, that’s the real promoter.”

“My team calls all the shots out of the ring, I call them in the ring.”

“Maybe I can fight Margarito next – if I pick his name out of the hat.”

“Who has Margarito beaten to deserve a shot at me? Once he beat two or three big names then we’ll fight.”

“Me and Margarito, we’re not fighting to prove to the boxing fans who the best is.”

“I don’t duck or dodge anybody.”

“But you got to realize this: I’m an A level, I’m an A level opponent, Oscar De La Hoya’s an A level, Floyd Mayweather’s an A level, I mean Margarito is a, he got D level fighters. He had Bob Arum, he got D level fighters. You know without, be honest, without Floyd Mayweather or Oscar De La Hoya, I mean, what is Top Rank, honestly?”

“I mean, the fight with Henry Bruseles – somebody had to give him a chance. You know, everybody gives, I mean, how will we ever know how good a person is till you give them a chance? Somebody had to give him that chance. So I gave him that chance.”

“Who is Margarito? He don’t bring **** to the table.”

“Like I said before, I grabbed boxing fans and asked who is this guy (Margarito) and they didn’t even know who he was.”

“I’m here to dominate Marquez. It won’t be an easy task. He’s a tough warrior. And he represents Mexico to the fullest. And I take my hat off to him, there’s nothing but respect. They say to be the best you have to beat the best. And I feel they had Maquez in the dark for a long, long time. And someone has to give him that opportunity. So why not it be me?”

“Like I said before I beat Margarito’s ass any day of the week. If this is the fight the fans want to see so be it. Margarito don’t dictate what I do. Don’t no one know who Margarito is.”

“I have more respect for Genaro Hernandez than anybody. Because that was the start of everything. He gave me a chance. I have more respect for Genaro Hernandez than any fighter. Anybody that gives me a chance I have respect for.”

“Margarito – he’s an average fighter. Why would I be scared of him?”

“You know me I’m running my mouth a lot and I’m looking for a guy to shut me up. If you don’t shut me up I’m going to keep running my mouth. Nobody can beat me, there is no way to beat me.”

“I know when someone is tailor-made for me, that I will punish.”

“I want to beat the best out there and whoever is considered the top fighters of my era.”

“I don’t really want to talk about this guy (Margarito). Because I see things that Bob Arum does that don’t make any sense. He says I’m the best fighter in the business, I’m the best fighter since Muhammad Ali. But then he’s talking about me ducking and dodging a fighter. He kicks me out of his boxing gym, then he wants me to fight his fighter (Margarito). How can you talk about doing future business with me if you’re conducting yourself with disorderly conduct?”

“It’s a smart business decision to not fight you now but we will down the road.” (Floyd said this to Margarito’s face while holding his hand, after Margarito confronted him at the Mayorga-De La Hoya press conference in May.)

(Judah’s) already beaten. He’s beat mentally. I just have to do the physical part. I beat every fighter mentally before I beat him physically. There is no on stronger than me mentally.”

“It’s about me making smart business decisions that’s gonna move me up a notch, move me up levels.”

“I’m not in the game for just the money, I’m in the game to be a legend. And give the fans and media all around the world exciting fights.”

“(To the media after defeating Carlos Baldomir in Nov.) I love the sport. One more fight and I’m through. I don’t need boxing. I’m not in it for the money. It’s about legacy. I’m rich and I’ve accomplished what I want.”

“They talk about Floyd Mayweather duckin’ and dodgin’ opponents. Listen. I’m trying to fight the number one guy. If the number one guy can’t fight, then I’m fightin’ the number two guy. If I can’t fight number two, I’m fighting number three.”

“I just dish out ass whoopin’s.”

“From 154 on down I tear everyone’s ass up.”

“Mosley will never fight me. I love to fight him. But you know he don’t want a dosage of truth.”

“Miguel Cotto is still in that learning process. He’s a good strong fighter but he’s still very green. He’s about two years away. But if he’s fighting Paul Malignaggi you know he’s not ready for the truth. But he’s a good fighter.”

“I don’t know who Paul Williams is. But I hear he’s a pretty good young fighter.”

Leonard Ellerbe: “Margarito has four losses, why should we fight a guy with four losses?” (A few months later Mayweather signed to fight 35-year-old Carlos Baldomir, who had NINE losses.)

“I want to turn non-boxing fans into boxing fans. People don’t know I’ve dominated four weight divisions and currently fight in three different divisions 140, 147 and 154.”

“I’m in the sport to be the best who ever lived. I feel I’m the face of boxing.”
“I’ll beat the **** out of Manny Pacquiao. He knows that.”

“Miguel Cotto is a punching bag. He knows he can’t beat me.”

“I’ve been boxing since 1987. A lot of people don’t realize I won a world championship 2 1/2 years after turning pro. And I’ve been world champion ever since.”

“I am the face of boxing and without me it’s a dud.”

“I never ducked or dodged anybody. I’m in the sport for legacy.”

“I approach every fight like it’s my last fight. I want to bring excitement.”

Scoop Malinowski’s book “Heavyweight Armageddon: The Tyson-Lewis Championship Battle” was called by Emanuel Steward “a smashing success” and “one of the two best boxing books I’ve ever read.”

Well since Floyd won't fight him, he's fighting the guy who demolished two of Floyd's biggest wins.

Shane is the man at 147...against all odds he beat the guy that STOMPED Cotto.

Judge Fanny Pac by the same standards you do Floyd if you dare.
Hey Holyfield I've missed your senseless posts. Styles make fights. Only a 15 year old toolbox like yourself would try & downplay Cotto as Pac's next opponent. Keep hating, Pac is fighter of the decade, the face of boxing, and a higher ATG than Floyd. Deal with it son.

floyd/pac would be huge. but I feel floyd/mosley is bigger than floyd/cotto. its just that floyd/cotto brings more money than floyd/mosley.

When has Fanny ever fought a guy that outweighed him by 15lbs??????????
When did PBF? Hope you don't mean DLH because they were only 4lbs off during weigh ins.
