Opinion: Cotto is Easiest to Beat Among Possible Opponents of Pacquiao

Oscar de la Hoya believes that Shane Mosley is a better boxer than Miguel Cotto and added that promoter Bob Arum is just trying to protect Pacquiao by fighting Cotto instead of Mosley as a prelude to a Pacquiao-Mayweather fight early next year.
Among Pacquiao’s possible opponents who include Miguel Cotto, Floyd Mayweather, Jr., Shane Mosley and Juan Manuel Marquez, Cotto appears to be the easiest to beat.

Judging from the individual performances in their most recent fights, it is quite clear that among the four top fighters, Cotto appears to be the easiest to beat in a Pacquiao match.

Cotto’s latest ring performance against Clottey in their recent fight leaves much to be desired. Many boxing fans believe that Clottey has actually won the fight. If the Clottey fight will be used as basis for comparison among the rated fighters, then Cotto would be Pacquiao’s easiest assignment.

In the case of Shane Mosley, Pacquaio may find him difficult to beat as he is a better puncher than Cotto according to Oscar de la Hoya. Mosley is much superior in built than Pacquiao though he is much older.

Juan Manuel Marquez may even surpass Cotto in terms of fighting style. Marquez has mastered the art of counter punching and has proven it with the Pacquiao himself when he fought with the pound-for-pound king a few years ago.

As de la Hoya said, promoter Bob Arum is trying to protect Pacquiao by electing to face Cotto instead of Mosley because the promoter knows that Pacquiao will emerge as a sure winner. And if Pacquiao wins over Cotto and so with Mayweather over Marquez, then the astute promoter will be assured of a mega fight in Pacquiao vs. Mayweather early next year.

It could also be Pacquiao’s last fight as the Filipino boxing superstar will be running for a congressional seat in the 2010 national elections.

    pretty much.

floyd will give pacquiao the most problems stylistically.

mosley will give pacquiao the most problems physically.

    marquez is pacquiao's kryptonite.

cotto is the easiest out of the 4.

that's ridiculous... cotto struggles against 2 massive WWs and now people are writing him off.

come on people!!! Pac's not even a WW... against hatton he weighed 138 lbs.

if cotto can't beat pac, he might as well give his boxing gear to roger, so roger can pour gasoline on it and throw it in the trash can.

On paper Probably, in relality, besides The believe that Cotto is damage goods, Pacquiao doesnt really stan a chan IMO.

FLoyd is not offensive enough, Mosley likes to brawl too much, and JMM is too small right now.

Cotto is the more complete boxer, who happends too be the stronger and he can brawl and box.

Cotto will make a lot of peopl look dumb on nov 14!!!!!!!!!

So Cotto is a tune up for Floyd and nobody wants to fight Mosely still.

I agree with Floyd...but Mosley, I think not...Cotto was out jabbing and even outboxing Shane (which surprised me) So he would do the same if not more top Pac than Mosley.
As for Marquez, I agree that Pac had trouble with JMM. The thing is that whatever Marquez is good at Cotto is just as good or better.
Pressure is applied by both equally well.
Guess what ? If you watch the highlights of the Pac vs. Marquez bouts. Marquez was catching Pac with left hooks and Right crosses.....Guess which two punches Cotto specializes in. He religously catches every one with those two punches and is stronger than Marquez....do the math....Cotto within 6.
Cotto fought going bacwards against two Strong fighters in Marg. and Clottey and people forgot he is a seek and destroy typr fighter.
