in 2006-2007 it was. But long before that it was bernard hopkins as I mentioned. Tito retired after that for a few years, remember.

tito couldn't make 47 anymore. there was talk of a catch weight rematch right after that but it didn't happen. tito wanted to fight at like 50 or 52 and i don't think dlh really wanted it. ended up fighting mosley instead.

When it comes to money De la hoya and most of the boxers would fight anyone but at their own terms, Oscar alway have a problem sharing 50-50 with anyone thats why a lot of his rematches never happened...Mosley fought Winky for less just on that principle, Mayweather retired based on that principle and trinidad moved up based on that to chase other challenges.

Oscar himself couldnt make 147 anymore, He had to strip down naked just to make the weight for the fight, If the money was in oscar's favour he would have fought tito at 154 without any problem, No fighter wants to drain themselves they would rather move up than do that.

It had absolutely nothing to do with Bernard Hopkins!
It was all about the split.
EVERYONE whether you were a Trinidad or A Hoya fan wanted to see this match, Hopkins win or not.
We all know Hoya could have made the fight, especially since he felt he "gave a boxing lesson" but he chose to make ridiculous proposals to the Trinidad camp, knowing Trinidad would not take it. Then make believe it was a money issue, when we all know he has no problem with money..lol
