Maybe you have me confused with Manny Pacquiao or Freddie Roach, I'm just a poster offering my opinions. My guess is they see cotto as the more physically bigger/stronger fighter so having a catchweight is intended for both negotating purposes and to attempt to "even" it out a bit (although two pounds imo is meaningless).

Floyd wont come in the ring weighing 160+ pounds like cotto, he'll weigh right around the same weight as pacquiao.

I think in any case that a title is on the line both fighters should be allowed to come in at the weights maximum. no matter who the fighters are whether they are my favs like Pea or SRL. It takes something away from the title match. In this case in particular when Pac could probably fight Cotto at 147lbs the same way he could at 145lbs.

Of course not. That's my point. 147 most likely won't make a huge difference so if the belt is on the line lets make it a REGULAR welterweight fight. If its not on the line then go ahead with the catchweight.

i can't understand why some boxing fans are bitching too much about this fight at 145 and if ever it will be a title fight. if pac and cotto agree to everything then there's no problem. if you as a boxing fan feels that you're being shorthanded then don't watch the fight. if the fighters themselves are not complaining who are you to complain.

1 pound can be a huge deal, if getting to 146 took everything he had, going to 145 could be a killer. It might not be a big deal but it could very easily hurt Cotto badly to say that it will not shows a lack of understanding about cutting weight.
