    Welterweight - 141-147 pounds

147 is the maximum weight you can weigh in. Therefor, a catweight of 145 pounds IS a welterweight fight thus Cotto's belt on the line.

I think that needs to be clarified because clearly that isn't common knowledge on these boards.

    Carry on.

Truth. I don't like the fight, but it's gonna be a WW title fight.

"147 is the maximum weight you can weigh in"

No dis*****g that 145 falls into welterweight class.
But like you said yourself, the limit for welterweights are at 147. Therefore If Pacquiao can't make 147 that's his problem. People are having hard time with Pacquiao telling Cotto(the Welterweight champ) that his limit is at 145 not 147.

you can disagree with the fight being at a catweight all you like, but I'm talking specifically to the people who think it's absurd that this fight is for Cotto's belt. Being that it's a welterweight fight and both parties agreed upon 145, there isn't any reason why the belt shouldn't be on the line.
