Pac and May are the two biggest stars in the sport at the moment and who cares what Dana has to say about either? Its clear he has an agenda since his product to a small degree competes with boxing.

damnn. .that was right on the bulls eye..

floyd mayweather is p4p #1 the best fighter in the world right now but is not a super star.

pacquiao could possibily be the p4p #1 best fighter and also he IS a super star.

Floyd Mayweather is a prime fighter and still considered among many the best in the world, Oscar wasn't anywhere near that when he fought Pacquiao.

Floyd could and should be fighting someone like Shane Mosley which is still a marquee match up years later after the hype for that potential fight started. No disrespect to Juan Manuel Marquez, but he barely escaped a grueling fight with Juan Diaz.

Floyd is taking the fight simply because he assumes fans are going to jump right back into the groove and watch him outpoint another fighter to their amazement, but Pacquiao has faciliated the void of that throwback fighter who is non stop action. Win or lose, you're guaranteed excitement...not so much with Floyd. Is it a coincidence that they moved the fight close to Mexican festivities in Sept?

I respectfully disagree. I think he using this as a tune up as well as an opportunity to set up a big fight with Pac. The goal would be to beat JMM more decisive than Pac did and shake the ring rust all in one night.

            LMAO.

You mean boxing...the sport with 16 different weight classes, and multiple sanctioning bodies ?

I'm a boxing fan, always have been, and always will be. But The UFC right now, and its success, is the reason why boxing promoters have finally started to realize that people want to see full quality fight cards, not 3 bull**** fights, and a main event.
boxing is more organized. i mean, i know boxing has a lot fo different weigth classes and ****. but whats wrong with that? i didnt say boxing was more organized than ufc. i sed boxing is mroe organized that mma. MMA has many different organizations and different rules for different countries. people can't fight people in a different organization unless they get a contract. in boxing, its all united.

The problem with that logic though is that people want to see Pac vs Floyd ANYWAY and are overlooking the fact that Floyd is fighting Marquez. To me, it's simply a ploy for Floyd to make as much money as he possibly can while he still can, even if it means fighting a 37 yr old Lightweight who's never fought above even 140lbs who's looked at as the #2 fighter in the world. But does that alone make it an even fight?

I ask this question to many, if Cotto or Mosley stepped out for a brief retirement and returned to fight a Lightweight, would they be ridiculed too? Of course! Floyd's no exception. Floyd has a good way of positioning his pieces, he's possibly the smartest businessman / fighter we've seen. Take it for what it is.

i doubt it he is probably just using this fight to say its a tune up and in the mean time hope pac would lose to either cotto or mosley. Then if he does floyd will just retire again.

There is more to it though. People have taken notice of the way Manny beat Oscar and Hatton. The casual fan doesn't care that styles makes fights. By fighting JMM Floyd will attempt to return the favor to Manny. Sure people want floyd vs Manny but this also serves as a way for Floyd to shake off any ring rust he may have AND 1 up Manny the same way Manny 1uped him twice. The fight does a couple of things for Floyd. As for JMM he was heading to 140lbs after Manny anyways so fighting at 144lbs against Floyd gives him a chance to 1up Manny as well.
