Teddy Atlas to train Povetkin for Klitschko bout

According to Dan Rafael of ESPN, Atlas might be training Povetkin. Here's an excerpt from the article:

    3. Alexander Povetkin (17-0)

The 2004 Olympic gold medalist looms as one of Wladimir Klitschko's mandatory challengers for a fight that could take place in the fall. ESPN's own Teddy Atlas may be in his corner going forward as his trainer. Atlas was supposed to spend about two weeks in Russia working with Povetkin in a trial run for both men. Wouldn't that be an interesting pairing?

(For Tunney) I ask: Does Teddy Atlas' hate for Wladimir ever end?

Povetkin has great stamina, what are you talking about? His defense is his number 1 weakness...

Having an idiot like Teddy Atlas as his trainer him will reduce Povetkin's chances of defeating Wlad from 2% down to less than 1%.

This is good news for Wlad, but I feel sorry for Povetkin.

Povetkin has many issues but his stamina isn't one of them. He is the only current heavyweight who can throw nearly 1000 punches in a fight.

Hopefully Teddy Atlas can teach Povetkin some head movement which is what he desperately needs in order to compete with the big heavyweights. Atlas did work with Tyson after all.

Throwing 80-90 punches a round late in the fight isn't fading. Chambers faded and threw next to nothing.

I wonder if the promoters will use Atlas' outrageous predictions (against Wlad) to hype up the fight.

Teddy Atlas is maybe a douche bag who can't predict fight but he did a pretty good job as a trainer when he worked with Michael Moorer. The only time Mike didn't listen to his advices, he got KTFO by Big George.

For Povetkin's sake they should pay Atlas to pick Wladimir. Doesn't guarantee a win but only the great ones have overcome the Atlas curse.
