Big difference getting your arm broken or ankle bruk off comparing to a Knockout

tapping aint quitting. dude had time to recover but he walked off from the ref on some "take me out the game coach" type ****. his eye wasnt bleeding enough to stop the fight. he just str8 up quit. taking a knee is more on the level of tapping.

There are dozens of locks that can literally end someones career. Taps are a part of MMA to preserve the saftey of the fighters (much like padded gloves in boxing) so everyone can enjoy future fights. Imagine if MMA fighters were able to shatter arms, legs, joints, necks without hesitation. Like it or not, MMA has more risks and tapping out is as more of a safety net.

it is what it is, victor is just not that kind of throw-back, leave it all in the ring kind of fighter we all expected him to be. Boxing glorifies the tough-sons of bitches that is cotto, vasquez and pac, and Ortiz is just doesn't belong with the elite. Simple as that.

I was going to start a similar thread but I just did not know how to go about it so I scrapped my thread like many other threads I think about starting and then never pull the trigger but I agree, you can tap before your arm is broken but in boxing you can not just quit if you feel you are going to get knocked the pluck out?, because that is what was going to happen to Ortiz and he knew it, he did the right thing. Most fighters don't even have the common sense to take a knee when they are getting pummeled.

I don't know everyone has an opinion on this. Quitting or not I hope he continue to fight. IF you feel you don't have to continue the fight to amuse thousands of people then why are you doing a sport where having fans it's a must to make money? But, I respect any decision cuz he didn't quit in the second round or anything..

Tap outs happen in mma while in the fighter is being beat or in a submission. They dont get up recieve a 8 count, then take a few seconds and say ok I tap out. Ortiz was very responsive, responsive enough to take a few seconds walk around and decide to continue. Cant compare that to a tap out.

OK short answer, Yes its ok to tap in MMA, and if you quit like Ortiz did in boxer, you are a *****... I explain more if i need to, but common sense dictates i don't need to
