I respect his want to live to fight another day but he should have kept those thoughts to himself. What's gonna happen if he continues to fight? It put it out there that he is willing to give up when the gets tough, from here on his career will be a uphill battle

I respect that Ortiz is concerned about his health, but he is not concerned about his career, perhaps he's looking to cash out and move on, i know he probably is so used to supporting his siblings that he probably just wants to be healthy and "there" for them. But as a fighter, unless he changes his attitude (and maybe he'll learn from this quit) he will never be a great (and maybe he doesn't want to be) but i know i'll never PPV a fight of his if I know that he'll quit if the going gets tough, as a fan, i love wars, and i'll forgive people who have nothing left to give and quit, (cotto in the 11th, Kotza Tsu, maybe even Oscar against Manny) But what ortiz showed me, is that he wants easy fights, if he can't get past the guy in 6 rounds and he's getting hit, he doesn't want to continue. Now maybe he can change and prove me wrong, but right now he looks to me like someone wanting the easy road, and thats his choice, it just won't pay to see a fighter that may quit if the fight is too good.

I agree he should have kept his words to himself lol

But i do respect him wanting to stop, ths is a sport, you need to make smart decisions...if he becomes something huge one day, this could be one of the turning points of why he becomes that great...

Although if he does this in another fight wen the going gets tough...i will lose some respect for him...

people talk about cotto but ortiz was worst than him. cotto was getting a beat the last rounds and we have to add plaster to the formula.

if he don't want to get hit then study law or banker

Also even in the clottey fight did clottey use plaster? Cos i saw the exact same cotto in the late rounds as i did in the marg fight.....

Then he should have never laced up gloves in the first place. Maybe he should work on his deffense or use his jab and box rather then go blow for blow with a hard puncher like Maidana.....he never should have said what he said in that post fight...That is like a football player saying well we were down 30-0 in the 1st quarter so why play the rest of the game? Very ignorant and ****** of a kid who is trying sell himself as the next big thing in boxing.....Lefty

No boxer should get any respect for quitting like Ortiz did. This is a warrior sport, if you can't take the punishment like a man, then don't take it at all. Ortiz wasn't that badly hurt and he quit without hesitation. Why should that be respected?
