He just looked like a man that was beaten and he couldn't muster up the strength to fight on. I kinda felt bad for him during his post interview, now after getting info on his childhood.

I think he had the look of despair and seemed sorta pissed at Oscar who assumed the 'father' role, based on his comments that 'he didn't deserve to beaten up like that'. It almost sounded like he was upset that Oscar put him in with someone with a pulse, knowing he wasn't ready.

I hope the kid bounces back cause he still has a boxing future. I hope this loss didn't ruin for him

Dont be fooled by the hype machines a lose is a lose. Dont give me bull**** weight issues, your family abondedened u ****! A lose is a lose. It may be the greatest thing that could have happened to this kid at this early stage. He will have enough time to recover and think things through. This is what happens when u take young green prospects that are not fully developed and try to force feed them to stardum. All these young guys need time to develop. I still think he has what it takes. You cant expect everyone to take a ass whooping like morales, barrera, cotto, marquez. It may not be so smart after all. Just look at cotto now after margachito. Look at marquez and izzy. Its true the sayign better to live to fight another day. His ring inexperience showed in their. But this kidd will still kick ass! Vic keep your head high! Would like to see vic knock out amir khan boy i cant stand him!

Maidana throws a straight right hand. Ortiz moves away from it, bending down to his left.

Maidana responds by hitting Ortiz with a left hand to the body. Ortiz, off balance, as defeated mentally as he was physically, falls down to his left and onto all-fours.

i dont know what to make of this fight or vic ortiz.

is he a flat track bully who is perfectly happy in beating up overmatched opponents but when hes gets in there against a live opponent he wimps out? ala judah/tyson

OR... is he an extremely smart young man who in the heat of battle realized that there was no sense in pursuing a lost cause? ala izzy in the first marquez fight

one things for sure it was a great fight while it lasted, the end imo was a bit of an anti-climax.

i dont think anyone here can turn around and say hes a wimp and neither do i think anyone can turn around and say he had good reason to quit. i think we could fill over 100 pages debating about ortiz and why he quit but whats more important is what he does now following the loss. imo that is what will show us whether ortiz is a flat track bully or a guy who just had an off night.

man, some of you are short sighted jerks.ortiz gave it his all.he made a mental error and knew it. panicked. wasn't listening to his corner.and bewildered himself and his corner, its happened to others. duran comes to mind.i don't get all the putdowns by his ex nutthuggers.

the guy fell pray to getting drawn into a battle and maidana was the luckier man that night. imo ortiz could of made it a much easyier night for himeself and out boxed maidana easily. just take a look at his last few.
the battle. the five kds were overshadowed by ortiz move to not go on. pissed off at himself for the idiocy of brawling and not boxing.

he looked good and used combos precisely. but what happened to him was he made a rookie mistake. he got blindsided.
it happened to khan it happened to that hothead darch in the donaire and vic is lucky it didnt happen to him in the arce! froch was successful getting pascal to fight his kind of fight.
sometimes the better man doent win.
vets use that tactic when their going down and been relegated to fight the brighter up and comers.

now we'll have to wade thru easy tuneups for ortiz in his comeback. and he will be back! this guy is skilled.
