They're both overrated and underrated today. The reason the are underrated? Because most fans today don't understand the circumstances of the era's they fought in and don't know **** about most of their respective opponents. The reason they get overrated? Blind hero worship and an uncanny ability to be unobjective.

I disagree with both of these. Liston thoroughly cleaned out the heavyweight division while waiting for his shot in the late 50's early 60's.

Patterson was a GREAT fighter, he was just to small to be a great heavyweight. If he'd stayed at 175 he may have gone down in history as the weights greatest fighter.
