    Here's his wikipedia profile:

He was doing very well in the 2008 Olympics, but wasn't able to fight in the final because of an elbow injury. So he had to settle for the Bronze Medal at super heavyweight.

Yes. Most predicted it would be either Glazkov or Roberto Cammarelle.

No, Olympic medals mean as much as they always have.

Usually boxers who do well in the Olympics (Mayweather, W.Klitschko, Lewis, Roy Jones, Ali, Frazier, Holmes, Foreman, etc.) will do well in the pros, although not necessarily so. There are a few exceptions, such as Audley Harrison.

the amateur system has gone downhill noticeably though, imo. less and less Olympic Medalists seem to end up going on to be top level in boxing, except medalists from the 90s. although, of course, there are exceptions. Povetkin comes to mind, hes doing quite well.

still, Ive heard good things about Glazkov. hes a fairly young, and Im glad to see hes fighting someone with an actually ok looking record.

Will there be any possibility for an American to catch that fight?

No, boxers with good amateur records still do very well in the pros. Look through the titleholders names...

Boxers without any amateur experience, like Tye Fields, rarely win world titles.

I don't think so, but since he's with the promoter Titov, we may see his future fights on Eurosport.

He has an entertaining, aggressive style that's well-suited to the pros.

I saw him fight Cammarelle in the world championships in Chicago.
Cammarelle beat him, but then again that guy is a career amateur and has been around forever without turning pro.

I did see him waylay the big lumbering Chinese guy in the semi-finals.

I thought there was another dude, can't remember his name, that was better than him, but he had some physical problems.
