Khan is now better defensively than both Maidana and Ortiz, the only thing in question is his chin. However Khan can beat both if he fights on the outside and covers up well.

But Ortiz on the hand just basicly threw in the towel. I don't blame him because the swelling was very bad but I don't see Khan ever doing this. At a young age in the beginning of a fighters carreer it is very hard to continue fighting when you get hurt very badly.

I'm not hating on Ortiz because I admire him as a fighter and his personality and I also feel that he could have won last night against Maidana if he just kept his composure.

P.S.: Khan beat and stopped Ortiz at the amateurs. Just like to mention it.
Ortiz got up after he got knocked down. And he got bombed. He even went on to finish the round despite having bambi legs. He then went on to floor El Chino twice in the next round. That you think Khan has more heart based on this performance is 100% ******ed. Typical NSB nonsense.

And please leave the british bias alone and don't put Calzaghe along with the ''exceptional ATG's''.He ain't there.

Only bollocks I saw is saying Calzaghe is a ''genuine ATG'' and listing him with guys like Monzon,Hagler, etc.

Ortiz is Fernando Vargas with less talent. You cant judge a mans heart for quiting when they are beat. He didnt have a chance.
To the bold, this fight reminded me in one aspect of the sorta recent Choi Tseveenpurev-Derry Mathews fight, in that a hyped prospect was made to look soft and got laid waste to by a crude but very rugged and determined journeyman. Obviously it's a different level, but the way Ortiz came undone and looked utterly exposed in there recalled that.

I found the US fanfare around Ortiz prior to last night as bewildering as the UK domestic hype around Mathews, that he was a seeming lock to clean up 140lb and take on Floyd down the line - had to wonder what I was missing because I didn't see it.

Not to say this is the end for him, but he's clearly a long way off those expectations.
