The funny thing was,Maidana got knocked down THREE times, and way harder then Ortiz did,the 2nd round Maidana got dropped heavily twice,he got up like it didnt happen and carried on fighting, the KD that dropped Ortiz for the final time wasnt even a hard KD,and he turned his back and quit?

Indeed he did he took what like 1 and a half round of some decent dmg and quit? i mean this dude he is fighting is an unknown and not a great power puncher?

Ortz didnt even look that hurt when he quit, why couldn't he hold out round 6 come back strong from there. Seriously this is what Champions do.. they dont quit like that vs bad opposition..

If you'd have seen Maidana before and Ortiz's level of opposition you'd know this wasn't a showcase no way no how.

60/40 Ortiz yes but no way a showcase.Maidana was the first top 10 fighter Ortiz fought.

Should he have quit, NO. Was he done, YES!. He had been slowed in the previous rounds by tons of solid punches especially the one that sent him down in the first. I think he will be ashamed and will be back strong but his chin might be the thing that spells his undoing. I think his heart will not be questioned again after this because he will be ashamed and not let it happen again. He should have fought on cuz he'd of been knocked right back down and the reg would've stopped it inside 20 more seconds.

Ortiz was out before he got hit. Didnt you see how he was in the corner before the round started? The guy was really hurt. You could tell the fight was over before the last round started.

Maidana won all his fights prior to Kotelnik on KO, now he won this one on TKO. I'm really looking forward to the Kotelnik- Khan fight as the winner may face Maidana at some point of time. As for Ortiz, unfortunately he exposed himself as someone that can't take a punch without whining. look at his face expression between the 5th-6th rd's..when the corner told him that they will stop the fight..he didn't even reply..as he didn't care. I gotta feeling that, if he decide to continue fighting, that he will fight some c-level competition to make some more $ and then call it the day. Boxing is too physical for some one to suceed without a heart.

I see a little Mike Tyson in Ortiz...not style wise...but in the head.

I think he has some mental issues.

I think he is all over the place in his mind like Mike was...You can tell Mike was mixed up even when he was a young kid...I don't know just something about the eyes...and how he would act after a knock out...it was creepy almost.

I see the same thing in Victor Ortiz.

So youd find more honour in him faking it?

Btw, he was hurt, multiple times, and was basically in for more of a beating if he carried on.

Its his health, his life, his decision. I bet if Ali and some other fighters could start over, they wouldn't allow themselves to take the punches they took before. You would think boxing fans would understand this stuff, instead they ask the fighters to give their lifes for boxing which is only a form of entertainment. Boxing is not not worth any fighters life. I don't blame Ortiz, he wan't making it through that round and he knew it. He's not a top prospect in my mind any more, but I will continue to watch him.
