What is up with this going out like a warrior stuff? Let me get this straight. We want him to fight until he can no longer defend himself or isn't responsive? Thus taking additional damage because he's too buzzed to see what's coming at him. Yeah that sounds like a good plan.

I agree with you. I totally understand his decision to call the fight when he did and I found it really refreshing to hear him say as much in the post fight interview.

Those who are bashing Ortiz are actually people who believed in the hype that Golden Boy did for the kid. That is why they could not help but criticize the boy...Even Ortiz himself must have believed what Golden Boy hyped him to be...

Golden Boy is just so desperate to promote someone who could be the next Oscar de la Hoya to the point that Ortiz must have gotten this "hype thing" into his head, distracting him in his preparations!

Ortiz is a brawler-puncher, he needs to develop more his defense...But he is good. He is still young. He can still be a world champion...but he needs to learn some lessons at this point in his career. I hope Golden Boy drop him and Top Rank takes him. Golden Boy is just desperate now for fighters who could earn for them more money that's why they hopelessly hype upcoming boxers like Ortiz.

140 is loaded with fighters MUCH better than Maidana.

He will not be a champion...if he does..it will be a WBO of NABF title.

Why do boxing fans put down a fighter when he loses? Victor Ortiz is part of a long line of fighters who get put down and called such things as overrated, a bum, a hypejob because he lost. Why?

The man had just fought tooth and nail against one of the top junior welterweights in the world, had him hurt and down before succumbing. The guy is just 22 years old, he has his future in front of him, 1 loss doesn't mean he's a bad fighter, especially since that defeat came at the hands of a guy who'd beat the majority of fighters at 140.

Could he have fought a better fight? Sure. Could he have finished the fight in a manner more befitting a warrior? Sure. But we aren't in his shoes, we weren't the ones taking big shots for 5 rounds from a big puncher, we weren't the ones getting cut above one eye and had one eye closing up. We really can't say what we'd do in his position because most of us haven't been there.

Instead of just enjoying the fight (which was an excellent one) and giving both fighters their props, we have to put down at least one of the fighters. It's a shame that some so called boxing fans do this after almost each and every fight to almost each and every fighter.

Stylewise, Maidana may not have the most attractive game, and yes there are better boxers then him at 140, but he would be a nightmare for any top JWW, and i bet he does win a world title in his career.
