This is not even comparable. Cotto was out of gas and getting hammered by Margarito (his downfall was inevitable). Now in the case of Ortiz: he was still leading in the scorecards heading into round 6. He could have still won that fight, but he gave up. He was getting frustrated when he got hit and tried brawling with the guy instead of boxing him. Ortiz lost his edge. When his oppenent started hammering him with those right hands, and he wasn't able to do anything -- Frustration set in and he just quit. Plan and simple: Ortiz didn't have the heart to fight through it, and he's will was broken.



As far as i'm concern Cotto gave everything he had til there was nothing left in the tank. Ortiz on the other hand just gave up. So I give the pass to Cotto for calling it quits.
