Do you mean taking a knee as in quitting?
Or is it just like when a boxer gets beat up, takes a knee to recuperate then gets up after the count reaches 8 or 9?
If its the latter then any boxer has the right to take a knee.
Its the same as clinching or getting on your bicycle so you can regain your legs and survive the round.
If its the first one then we cant really say.
We can all talk here as much as we want but the simple fact is only the boxers really know how they are holdin' up.
I mean cotto's cut for the clottey fight does look more serious than ortiz's cut but you have to consider the fact that cotto didn't get knocked down on his fight.
We just really can't be sure.
Maybe Ortiz was already seeing stars for all we know.
Personally I really have no problems with Ortiz taking a knee.

it dont matter if it was plaster or not but they found hard inserts inside the wrap thats why he got suspended for a year its still illegal and he had it. also even if he didnt have it for the cotto fight(which I doubt) cotto still got hit way more than ortiz and lasted way longer taking a beating which ortiz wasnt even though he did get hit ortiz plain ol quit just cause he was getting hit a lil cotto took shots for 11 rounds and gave it all he had till there was nothing left
