Ralph Walton was a punching bag with half a pulse, you can't compare what Pep could do against a bag to what he could do regularly against tough opponents.

at one point or another you gotta realize that Pep didn't have a great punch. all that defense for no reason would not cut it against modern fighters. I'll agree to disagree, but this ain't the same sport now.
During his peak years before the plane crash, he had seemingly developed quite a punch with very few men going the distance against him. Out of his last 9 fights before the accident, he scored KO wins in 8 of them.

Pep did the same against ranked contenders and even hall of famers. He fought over 30 men who were rated in the top 10 and beat great fighters such as Sandy Saddler, Chalky Wright, Manuel Ortiz as well as very good ones such as Willie Joyce, Sal Bartolo, Phil Terranova, Paddy DeMarco, Harold Dade, etc.

Originally posted by TheGreatA View PostPep having no power is a bit of a myth. He was less likely to score a KO due to his style but despite this managed to score KO's over Chalky Wright (HOFer), Sal Bartolo, Humberto Sierra, Jackie Graves, Eddie Compo, Jock Leslie, Charley Lewis and others. These are all HOFers, world champions and top 10 contenders we are talking about.

Walton outweighed Pep by over 12 lbs.
