black people used to seeing black fighters at the top of the sport. It has always been the case. It is nothing new to casual fans or hardcore fans. plus, there are other black athletes in other sports. I know he was talking about boxing, but boxing is a sport so it is relevant to the other sports. Ricans got only boxing and baseball, Mexicans got boxing and maybe soccer, Pinoys only got boxing.

white and black people got athletes in all those sports and we bowl! but whites tend to love their hockey, baseball, and all Americans love football. blacks we tend to favor basketball and football s our favorites.

But at the end of the day the article was poorly written and the title and topic was horrible. If you want to know how boxing can get more black fans engaged then just say that....or ask how can we get more black fans to the sport!

We have had our icons. Infact, two of our icons are the center of the hottest boxing game in the world right now. We have had our time in boxing, we have COUNTLESS icons across the historical mainframe.

I love it when people OUTSIDE of our community want to tell us what we need. We have had more black icons in boxing than any other ethnic group in the entire sport. The thing is, after jack johnson, after joe louis, after ali etc, we had one after the other. Who will be after pac? That should be the question filipinos should be asking instead of worrying about a group has one of the most established positions in the sport.

Surely 150 million pinoys can at least keep up with 30 million Black Americans.
you obviously didn't read the article because he is strictly talking about BOXING.
Also, what do the icons of the past matter in today's world when you don't have any?
I don't blame the black athlete's in our sport one bit though, I blame the black fans who are hell bent on bringing race into an argument and can type away on an internet forum but can't go out and buy a ticket to see their "idol" fight.
Did you buy a ticket to Mayweather v. Marquez? NO? exactly.. stfu!

Exactly, we were on top of the sport for damn near a century, we are used to a guy like a mayweather, a guy like jones jr, a guy like mosley. We have had that already.

Honestly as big as pac is, talk to me when Pac is fighting on the side of his country in the middle of a world war and knocks out the the icon of your enemy. Only then can filipinos have ANY right to even open their mouth on that subject. The phillipines have ONE fighter of this stature, whereas black america helped put the sport on the pedastool its on right now.

You blame black fans, yet about 99 percent of black people hardly pay attention to the sport at this point. You are talking strictly on an internet basis which lends no argument to real life. In real life, blacks have already experienced some of the greatest fighters the sport has ever seen in some of the greatest fights the sport has ever had. You basing black fans on whats said on the internet is asinine.

Why's it got to be about ethinicity? Who cares? I like fighters because of style, personality and intangible qualities. Cotto, Pacquiao, Klitsckos, Mayweather, Marquez, Williams, Tzsyu, RJJ, Pavlik, Lennox Lewis and others, not for nationality or ethnicity but for who they are and how they present themselves in and out of the ring.

Morgan Freeman said something which in its spirit I believe meant something like: The less we concentrate on our differences and more on our similarities the more united we will become. There are no 'races' really. We are all one race, the human race. If you cannot accept that then you ain't welcome to the club.

I'm blaming black fans as a whole actually.. not just internet.
But even if that, who's fault is it that black people don't really pay attention to the sport though?
btw, I think that claim is false because usually people I can talk about boxing to are either black or mexican.

One last thing ill add, NO FIGHTER, no one from ANY sport is topping barack right now. Hes the most important black figure in the entire country right now, the writer doesnt take this into account, most notably because hes a ****in moron.

you are an idiot because he was talking about BOXING and ***** doesn't box.
I'm sure the author is very aware there is important black figures in government and other areas but the article was strictly boxing based.. sad that you don't know how to read though.
